        Hi,
I attempted to install Ubuntu touch 16.04 about 6 months ago on a Oneplus 6, and got stuck when attempting to boot the phone. If I just power on the phone, it goes to a screen that says,:
The bootloader is unlocked and software integrity cannot be guaranteed..."
        IMG20240314093301.jpg (See attached photo)

        Which is an android message.

When trying to boot in to fastboot (PWR+ VOL UP), it goes in to to a fastboot mode and gives me the options to "START", "POWER OFF", or "Recovery mode" and says to press volume key to select (toggle between choices), and press power key to select (execute the choice).

No matter what I choose, it boots back to the screen saying that the boot loader is locked. What should I do at this point? I'm lost...

@kchoate That is the normal behaviour of the device. If you leave it alone the device will go past the bootloader unlocked warning and boot into Ubuntu Touch (UT).

To run UT the bootloader has to be unlocked. It won't boot otherwise.

Likewise if you relock an unlocked bootloader it may (MAY) brick the device.

@MrT10001 I have read that before, but I have left this phone in this state for most of a day, and it never gets past this screen.

@kchoate OK, if it hangs there it means you didn't have the required version of Android on the device.

The last version of Android 9 has to be installed, then install Ubuntu Touch.

@MrT10001 Ok. At the time I first attemped this, I did the following:

                1. Bought the phone.
                2. Contacted Oneplus to have the phone carrier unlocked (It was/is a Tmobile branded phone)
This was a "just in case" move on my part.
                3. Went into developer options and enabled "USB Debugging" and "OEM unlocking"
                4. Did adb reboot bootloader
                5. Ran fastboot oem unlock
                6. Downgraded from Android 11 to android 10
                7. checked to make sure that worked
                8. Downgraded from Android 10 to android 9 (the latest version at the time. I'm assuming it may have been the wrong one given your comment) Checked to make sure it was on Android 9, and it was (OOS 9 - should this have been some other image?)
                9. Downloaded and installed the UBports installer
                10. Ran the installer.
                11. Tried to boot the phone and it hangs at that screen (plus won't boot into recovery)

Question is, what do I do now? Reflash Android 9 to that slot and re-run the UBports installer?

@kchoate Thats what I would do. Start from scratch. I would read up here and make sure you have everything to reinstall Android.

@MrT10001 I'll do that. At least now I have a path forward.
Thank you very much for the help! Is there a way I can buy you a beer?

@kchoate 👍 :beaming_face_with_smiling_eyes: I gave up the booze many moons ago. Just let me know if you get up and running with UT on your device.

@kchoate Will do! I just hit 14 years sober in January. Took up jamming to Van Halen tunes on an old '87 Yamaha RGX312 as an alternative...

                        Thanks again!
