Sorry if I am not allowed to make such request, but I had seached a lot the internet, and even tried to make myself an Android Port for the Nokia Lumia 1020, and I wasn't capable.
So, this will come up as a request/challenge to people who may, or may not be inclined to do so, but believe me, a lot of people (me included), would be happy if someone would crack this one out.
Now for what is worth... As the tittle says: Ubuntu Touch for Nokia Lumia 1020.
This smartphone, even though having it's age, is one hell of a smartphone. One of the best cameras, and people actually had Ubuntu 14.08 running on it at some point as just a statement of it being possible.
A special someone within the Windows Phone comunity named René created what may be the most significant tool in the Windows Phone universe: Windows Phone Internals. (https://www.wpinternals.net). Essencially, this program allows people to root their phones, and install custom, region free roms on their devices. Helped a lot of people who had devices that didn't get the Windows 10 update. Some people even managed to create Android Roms for some Lumias, like the Lumia 520, 521, and so on. The 1020, from what I can tell, is a tough nut to crack due to the camera drivers (Carl Zeiss 41 megapixel camera), and yeah, people eventualy quit mid 2015-16, and never picked up on it ever again.
Now Windows just pulled an Apple move and stop updating the Windows 10 Mobile, where they eventually will stop giving security updates to the OS mid 2019.
So this is where we stand, a great piece of hardware that is on a doomed OS, that has so much potential that it is a shame that Windows just kills these smartphones. Hardware-wise, this phase of Nokia was just stellar. It is a shame that Windows just pulled out like this.
So I was hoping I could just make this hint, and perhaps someone could grab on this project and develop on it.
Here are the phone specs, if it helps in any way: https://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_lumia_1020-5506.php
Been researching the Ubuntu OS, and I find it quite fascinating, more compeling than the Android platform. And since it is backed up by a comunity that is more interested in making an OS functional rather than making tons of money out of it, as the Linux motto was since day one, I though I would make this suggestion here.
Once again, sorry if any forum rule is being broken, I just created an account here and haven't got time to read the rules. Oh, and sorry for my English as well. Not my main language, and I am prone to make some grammar mistakes.
