Install wrong image on a BQ E5
-
@Flohack said in Install wrong image on a BQ E5:
rerboot into recovery with the power buttons
Thanks Flohack, I tried it :
- hard reboot with Power + VolUp pressed
- launch ubports-installer (sudo on linux)
- select the device manually (aquarius E5)
-=> it asked me to reboot to bootloader
I restart with Power + VolUp
But nothing happens and it waits forever despite I retry
many time (at least 10 times !) to hard reboot.
The fact that the screen stay black doesn't ease the process...
I operate blind and I not sure when I should release the buttons.Fred

@fred56 in recovery you should be able to adb push the files you need to get the installer to work again, other than that Im not sure what else you can try as I dont own that device, the only thing I have for comparison is when I accidentally installed a tf101 ROM on a tf201, that resulted in me having to do a full system wipe and restore using nvflash
-
Do you mean that you installed the wrong software using SP Flash Tool, or something else?
-
You should be able to reinstall android with "flash_tool" ( I am guessing it was originally android).
I am not familiar with this device,
have your PC sound on so you can hear what it is doing,
can you disconnect/remove the battery, if you can, it helps
( do everything on your PC before you plug in your turned off device). -
@UniSuperBox : Well, it's actually my daughter who did not want to wait for me to install a new system on her phone, replacing Ubuntu Phone. And with ubports-install she chose the image for aquaris 4.5 instead of aquaris E5! I'm trying to fix the damage now..

@fred56
the more info you can give, the easier it will be to help you,
Was it on android 4.4
Are you using win/ Ubuntu
Etc -
@Marathon2422 : Thanks, using flash tools seems like a good idea. Found on https://developer.sony.com/develop/open-devices I will try it tomorrow.
-
@Marathon2422 : The previous system installed on my Aquaris E5 was Ubuntu Phone, the latest version. My PC runs on Ubuntu 18.4 and I have a Win7 installation in a Virtual Box. I usually install systems on various machines. Fred

@fred56 Well the screen should not stay black actually... that puzzles me a bit. Of course, wrong recovery and system image would render both boot modes useless and might not show a picture. But bootloader mode should always show smth on the screen. I canΒ΄t remember well but I think its a list of tiny text options.

@fred56 you should be able to reflash the original ubuntu it came with, using flash tool.
you just need to enter your serial no, to get the original from BQ.
Set everything up with your device switched off,and disconnected.
have the sound for your PC on
set up flash_tool ,then click on >download<
now connect device, listen to what is happening
let it do its thing for a couple of minutes ,
if nothing happens ,turn the device on
if nothing happens, turn the device off
or unplug the device, then plug it in again.
v,5 1824 flash tool is the one i use
i use a flash_tool , not from BQ, so it does not have a timer set to stop it, if nothing happens.
and then start over -
@Flohack I have had the black screen on my M10fhd,by flashing wrong image, disconnecting the batterys, and then used flash_tool ,no problem. it did make me think i had killed it though.

@Marathon2422 Thanks for all these advices. I have not the time to do it quietly now : I'm going to do eight days of sailing at sea next week. On my return I will try all that. Fred

Hi,
I finally managed to restore my original system (Ubuntu) after installing SP_Flash_Tool_v5.1824_Linux and downloaded the ROM VEGETA01A-S11A_BQ_L100EN_2016_161207.zip
It took me a while to understand that the scatter file was in the .zip !
Thank you all for your help.

@fred56 Great to hear you managed it. Every single user of UT is important to us
-
@Flohack ... and I have installed the correct image of UBports without any problem. That's a piece of good work and useful work from the UBPorts team. Fred.

@fred56
While inserting my SIM card into my Aquaris E5 under UBports, I have a problem: I can not run my cell.
He tells me that my SIM card is not registered.
He accepted my PIN.
When I go to "Cellular Parameters / Operator & APN / Operator", the operator search is automatically performed, mine is found (Free) but it refuses me to select it. When I return to "Carrier & APN", the entry "Carrier" remains at "None"
I had no such problem with my latest Canonical Ubuntu Touch, so I do not think it comes from my phone, my SIM card or the E5.
What can I do ? is there a configuration file to edit?
Fred
