            Hi

            Thanks.

ETA = estimated time of arrival.

when do you anticipate the software will be ready for the OP3T?

            thanks.

@iamnotarobot I know what ETA means, but which device is OP3T and why do you think we are porting for it?

                  Ok got you.

Well things have change a little bit since MWC: Canonical has stopped development for all phones, and since we are now in the position of having to not only work on porting but also drive the development of the OS as such, there is little to no time for new devices.

We are limited in time and resources, and we need all power now to stabilize the devices we already got AND try to move forward to a 16.04 image, to new Qt, work on Halium integration etc. So, sorry to say, but there is no ETA for OP3/T now.

Further infos please look here: https://forums.ubports.com/topic/206/will-you-port-to-device-x - and watch the webcast which is linked there.

                    Thank you.

in the absence of the OP3/T option is there another handset that you would recommend as a/ the reference device for porting? i am eager to try the OS.

                    Thanks.

@iamnotarobot You mean you want a suggestion which device you should try to get, because its already supported, or you want to try porting on your own?

                        thanks.

I'd be interested in helping with the porting effort. Is there a mailing list I should join? A github project (I couldn't find one)? I'm currently developing kernels, boot loaders, device trees, etc for custom hardware at the company I work for, so I may as well help with this.

I (wrongly) thought the OP3T was already supported by native linux distros of one form or another and bought one. Great phone, but I bought it JUST to put desktop linux on 😞

@iamnotarobot In general we are recommending the Nexus 5 or Fairphone 2. The OnePlusOne still has issues with the camera.

@royal Well best would be if you can join telegram supergroup, in case you did not until now πŸ™‚ There we can help you better. Which Android version is the base version of OP3?

@Flohack, OP3T comes with OxygenOS which is based in Android 6.x or Android 7.x depending version.
