Qi Wireless Charging
-
I have a Nexus 4 running UT which I can charge with a universal Qi charger. The battery indicator on the phone turns green whilst charging. I've seen a Youtube video of a Nexus 4 running Andoid which displays the message 'charging wirelessly' when it is placed on the charging mat. I assume that message is an android feature which isn't implemented in UT. In other words am I safe to assume my phone does not have a hardware fault?

@dtarrant I'I've been charging my N5 happily on an induction coil for a long time now. The battery icon turns green, but I've never seen any other message.

@3arn0wl Thanks for your input. As a matter of interest, does your wireless charger shut down automatically once your N5 is charged? I expected my charger to do that, but it doesn't seem to.

I'm not sure if there's any way for us to implement the charge control features of Qi currently, but if you'd like to look into it and submit some PRs to improve that, it would certainly be appreciated.

@dobey What is PR in this context? I would be happy to investigate the subject via internet searches if that would be of value. I should point out that I am not a developer.

Hmmm - I don't know. I just take it off when it's charged.

@3arn0wl That's what I do too. I suspect it doesn't shut down due to an un-implemented charge control feature in UT. I've read that there's a charger control chip NXQITXA1 that's got a lot of features. Needs further study.

@dtarrant a PR is a pull request

@dobey Thanks, that's what my son told me.
