    • RE: Ubuntu Touch is working poorly for me on my FP2

Ubuntu Touch on my M10 tablet is good for me. I use it for a minimum of 2 hours each day. My wife also uses it in preference to our laptop. Morph browser works fine. File Manager is really cool once you discover how to slide files right or left to reveal the hidden tools. System Settings and OpenStore are most reliable. You can roll your own webapps with Clickable or Webapp Creator. You can move files back and forth between your UT device and your Ubuntu laptop with WifiTransfer. Document Viewer and Sturm Reader handle pdfs smoothly.

I could go on. To close, I prefer Ubuntu Touch to Android. I wiped Android from my Nexus 4, installed UT and it's great.

In support of Android, many folk cite the availability of a plethora of apps. How many do you really need? Aren't many of them simply "shovelware"?

Oh, by the way the Community is knowledgeable and helpful.

    • RE: webapp creator tutorial

I'm delighted to report that with help from @advocatux and @bhdouglass, I succeeded in getting my first webapp, NFB Canada, working and uploaded to OpenStore. The process was as follows:

      • run webapp-creator and complete template

      • run UT Tweak Tool to install .click package on my M10 HD tablet

      • test webapp

      • join Telegram OpenStore Group

      • submit webapp

All this was accomplished on my tablet. The difficulties I experienced were as follows:

      • had trouble joining Telegram OpenStore Group. This turned out to be an issue with the UT Telegram app. When I switched to the Telegram webapp everything worked as expected.

      • I did try using the UT Tweak Tool to submit my .click package, but was unsuccessfull. This may have been because I hadn't yet joined Telegram OpenStore Group at that stage.

      • my first submission to OpenStore was declined as requiring manual inspection. Brian Douglass suggested that I needed to use the default profile since video_files wasn't needed. That fixed the problem.

      • each time I needed to edit my webapp-creator template, I had to fill out the whole pro-forma again. However I got better at doing that as I moved further up the learning curve.

In case you are wondering why I chose NFB Canada as my target, let me explain. My first tablet was a Blackberry Playbook. This came with an NFB Canada app installed. I found that it was a wonderful resource. So I thought perhaps some of you UT enthusiasts might also enjoy it.

    • RE: Welcome to the UBports community! Introduce yourself here!

Hello, I'm David aged 76, retired and living in Dorset in the UK. I graduated in physics in 1963 and initially worked as a R&D engineer on ferrite core and plated wire computer memory systems. I've been using linux systems for many years, especially Ubuntu and ordered a BQ Aquaris M10 Ubuntu Edition as soon as they went on sale. I subsequently switched to UBports and love it. I use my tablet for about two hours every day and it does most things I want. I really appreciate the UBports community and have gained the confidence to be able to post some questions to the support forum. I'm not a software developer, but I'm keen to try my hand at producing a simple webapp. So far I had some great help from the support forum. I would like to contribute to testing, but as I use 15.04 so much, I'm reluctant to install 16.04 and risk compromising my system. What I really need to do is to aquire another tablet. Oh BTW I speak and read french.

    • OpenOffice-365 Webapp

I have just installed this new webapp and it's great. I normally access my OpenOffice-365 email account via a Morph Browser bookmark and everything works as it should. Yesterday I tried the OpenOffice-365 Webapp and logged in to my account. It was really snappy and I like it. I tried it on my M10 tablet and my Nexus 4 and it performed well on both devices.
The only snag was a freeze which occurred when I opened the Junk Email folder and selected a message for deletion. This issue was repeatable on both my devices.

    • Users by country stats?

Do we have any estimate of users by country? I have no idea if I am the only UK user or if there are another 100 scattered about. Do we have the raw data that could be analysed?

@bastos This topic is about webapp creator. Maybe you'd be better to start a new topic about clickable. I would be interested in that once I have got my head round webapp creator. Good luck.

@ellypsis Amazing!!! That did the trick. Now to finesse it to the point where I could upload it to OpenStore. I've just created my first webapp; how cool is that?

    • Stuck in devel channel

I recently switched from stable to devel 386 ยป 387 ยป 389 to try out updated camera and morph. These worked fine, but Teleports was very slow.

However the dialogue to switch back to stable or release candidate was no longer shown on the system updates page.

Is there a command line solution or will this soon be fixed in devel?

I'd prefer not to have to re-install.

    • RE: GPU Support

@flohack Hi Flo, thanks for your input.
I think Morph has improved in OTA 15 and that makes many websites a lot smoother.
BTW, my wife is a typical consumer, not a computer nerd. I'm sure she'd be quite happy with an ipad.

    • RE: HDMI working ?

@marathon2422 I have a BQ M10 HD running OTA 15. It connects to my Panasonic TV with my Blackberry Playbook HDMI cable. Video playback is great, but no audio over HDMI. All you get is audio from tablet speaker. Such a shame.

    • GPU Support

I have an original BQ Aquaris M10 HD tablet which incorporates a MediaTek Mali GPU. It is running UBports UT OTA 15 and it works so well that my wife loves it!
Is OTA 15 exploiting the GPU in order to achieve such a smooth performance?

    • RE: BBC Login Problem

@Lakotaubp How bizarre! Your suggestion worked for me too!
With Morph, I selected desktop mode and connected to:
      www.bbc.co.uk
and entered my email address and password as you described.
After that, I found that I was logged in to iPlayer etc.
So workaround was successful. Many thanks.

    • BBC Login Problem

Since upgrading my M10 tablet to OTA 14 I've been unable to login to BBC News or BBC iPlayer from Morph browser. Have other UK users experienced the same problem?

No problem from Firefox on my laptop. The BBC websites all recognize me as already logged in.

All BBC websites I visit with Morph request me to log in. However, when I try to type my email address, the characters I type are right justified until I enter the @ character. This is inserted in front of what I have already typed. Thus it is impossible to log in.

I believe I've had this problem in the past and the advice from @AppLee was to set Morph to desktop mode. This time that doesn't help.

I've just checked my Nexus 4 which is also on OTA 14 and that is OK - I am still logged in to the various BBC websites.

I've also checked my PinePhone and that's OK too - I'm recognized as already logged in.

I'd like to resolve this problem as watching BBC iPlayer videos on my M10 tablet is preferable to watching them on a phone screen.

    • RE: PinePhone Browser not working with some websites

@AppLee The insight you provided enabled me to improve the browsing experience on my Nexus 4. In browser settings I turned 'desktop mode' off and 'automatic fit to width' on.
I suppose that's obvious when you think about it. ๐Ÿ™‚
