Apps & scopes closing down on shut down

When I shut down my E5 overnight, when I start the phone again in the morning, all my previously opened apps and scopes are all closed down. On my android phone they stay open on shut down.
Is there a setting that I can change to get them to stay open so I can pan across them on boot-up?

You mean for it to remember recent apps?

Yep the recently viewed/used apps.

Do you turn it off via the power button long-press? Then the phone is off, and Canonical did not make any persistence for the state of running Apps etc. You can file it as enhancement ticket on our Github, but it will get a low priority I am afraid

Isn't the point of rebooting to have the device in a predefined state? I don't like operating systems that reopen the last used apps on startup, so i guess i wouldn't like it on the phone either... But it if there was a toggle for it, i could see it being added as a feature at some point. @Phil-UK please file an enhancement proposal, if you want to see this happening, that way we can plan with it more efficiently.

I agree about the rebooting of the device, but on my android phone when I boot it back up I can view all the apps/screens that I had open before I turned it off. This is a very useful feature to get back to things you use on a regular basis, save having to open everything again.
Not raised a feature or bug before, any links to it?
It is a shame that it would be classed as a low priority as with others offering such features, we are already on a back foot.

Yes, Android is going to offer lots of features not available here; that is the nature of the beast. Even a billionaire couldn't boil that ocean.

That is true and I totally agree.
The point I am trying to make here is; we should not do a direct copy of the other main players, as if that is what people want, there are already stable options out there for them. All I think is that we should look at the features that people are using and like and possibly use them and improve where we can. We should not treat these as a low priority as a fair few people who wish to use our OS going forward, will find it easier to move over with certain familiar features. Features like not having to re-open all your previously opened apps and screens for me is one of the very useful features.

that requires probably a lot of code to be rewritten, and since we are not the designers of the system we still struggle to understand the basics. So this is what I mean with low priority: Having to catch up means also need to study all components of the system. The design of Touch is at some point not very logical also.

I see what you mean. I think I will raise it and see where it goes. If nothing else it will be logged for later consideration.
