Hello! I haven't got my OnePlus One yet (it will be a while). But I want to ask now so I wouldn't have to wait for the response after I get my phone. Is it necessary for me to unlock the bootloader? Or will the installer do it for me?
-
@linuxadopter Yes the bootloader will have to be unlocked and the installer should do that. You will also need to turn on developer mode from system setting along with MTP and usb debugging.
-
We need unlocked devices but we cannot automatically unlock them: It will delete all the data that was there before, and bad things can happen with this be done by the Installer.
The user is responsible for unlocking, deleting his data etc. Also, some newer devices need you to allow OEM unlock in the Android developer settings before it would even work with fastboot.
So short answer: No, not possible

@Flohack Alright not a problem. I've researched and unlocking OnePlus One's bootloader is relatively simple.
-
@Lakotaubp Are you sure? @Flohack says I should unlock it myself.
-
@linuxadopter I was sure it did it on my last OPO maybe my memory is fading with age : ) still as you say it's very straight forward. Good luck for when it arrives.

@Lakotaubp Thanks
