New step in next gen UBports phones!
-
@Keneda Great news about the Volla Phone! I am looking forward to see the Volla Phone emerging as a real 'flagship' device for UBPorts.
I pre-ordered a Volla Phone with Ubuntu Toch / UBPorts. According to Volla, everything is on track to ship the phone October/November this year.

OS : or ordered with UT

What is a pity here is that UBports developers will receive Volla phones before having Librem 5, even if L5 phone was announced before Volla, including its partnership with UBports ...
This lack of union between open source communities members is part of the low rate of progress of open source in its entirety.
-
What counts now and is proven is that there are two true win-win partnerships between Pinephone and Ubports and Volla and Ubports with two different phones that have everything to become very good supports for UT. But porting is complicated even for motivated (partly volunteer) top-level developers because there are few of them.

@Keneda - as far as I can see the fault in that lays with Purism's mismanaging and over promising, and not with any lack of cooperation, effort or desire from the folks in UBports.
I seriously think at this point, that we might not ever see a usable Librem 5 commercially available. I hope I am proven wrong in that misapprehension.
Best regards,

I don't see where i said the opposite.
I talk about purism yes, about the fact they sent devkit like 6 month or more late to ubports, and it was made with maintenances parts. I talk about the fact they didn't send a single Librem 5 even if there are some phones in the wild now.And i talk in a general maner when people just fork projects or make the wheele again from scratch "no i don't like how they do, i'll do better"... I mean we need a strong GNU/linux mobile OS alternative to GAFAM ones, not five or more actors spinning out end users and devs skills. I though we got it with UT since five years i'm using it, but no, not to everyone in the linux community as i see, and i'm quite disapointed with that.
