      Hey everyone,

I am very excited about the idea of purchasing a PinePhone and installing Ubuntu Touch! Before I do, I need to know one thing: is it possible to remote control a desktop computer through a PinePhone running Ubuntu Touch?

      1. Is a VNC client available?

      2. I noticed that DWService has a download for PinePhone. Will this work? The DWService web app in the OpenStore doesn't look like it's up to the job just yet.

      3. Are they any TeamViewer-like Android apps known to run well in Anbox?

      4. Are there any browser based services that could work?

      Thanks! 🙂

Yes, it is possible. I wrote a browser based remote control (touchpad + writing) for my linux desktop (only x11 suported). I'm a little bit ashamed for the code quality and there are currently some small glitches in writing (it worked before morph era, needs some patching) but I'm willing to provide my code if there is demand. 😉

We also have our own PinePhone thread https://forums.ubports.com/topic/2403/pinephone/546 and Braveheart thread https://forums.ubports.com/topic/3931/pinephone-braveheart/46 If PinePhone questions could be kept to one of those it would probably help everybody interested in PinePhone.

Yes of course... here are the client screenshots:

As you can see, the client runs in browser (chrome, morph, ff, ...). You can connect to the server (your X11 powered dektop) and then use the client (on the phone) to move mouse cursor or press keys.

I found out that some apps are working, but if I'm remembering correctly, usually the morph browser that I used in Ubuntu touch as the vnc client, gave me problems. If Morph would be more modern it would work, but sometimes when I needed to enter some text somewhere, Morph wouldn't give me a keyboard etc

I was thinking about Guacamole or DWService

                Could't get it going...

(did not try Anbox / teamviewer by the way)
