Axolotl: contacts?
-
@AppLee Yes I do, and I can post to it, and my message appears many times... it seems like as many times as there are members in the group. Sorry if that wasn't clear.
-
@Moem
Oh, that is something else you're right.
I don't have groups in Axolotl, so I cannot test it.
But I bet someone already opened an issue, if not I suggest you create one.
https://github.com/nanu-c/axolotl/issuesDo you know if the other members receive all the messages or is it just you ?
-
@AppLee That's okay, thank you for being willing to help!
I don't have a GitHub account. I may need to get one... that sounds like a good idea.
I cannot see all the messages in Axolotl, it just shows me one. I can see them all in Signal Desktop. And the group members told me they can unfortunately see them all, too.
-
@Moem
Ok, so that is an annoying issue.
I hope this group is not work related -
@AppLee Don't worry, it's only my private social life that's been destroyed.
-
Since the original question was solved, I'll mark this as solved.
Axolotl is clearly very much under development, and I'm excited to see it improve, as I'm sure will happen. -
Hi @Moem. Many points:
- I also reproduce that "one message per member of the group" bug, sometime it is also true when receiving... I don't know if an issue already exists, please fill one on github
- It looks like if the group is updated (for example its title change) from an official Signal client, it works better
- If you want to discuss about Axolotl, there is a Telegram group https://t.me/axolotl_dev

@Fla Thank you for weighing in! Yes, I do believe issues will be posted to GitHub. I don't see any about the "one message per member of the group" bug mentioned there. And it's a show stopper for actually using the group, because people will get tired of it rather quickly.
I have not noticed getting messages in the group more than once. But I do see a flood of 'so-and-so Set timer for self-destructing messages 0s', which seems like a different bug.
The Telegram group looks interesting, but I'm not sure it's for me because I can't code.

This is because Emoji reactions on messages aren't interpreted correctly at the moment.

No need to be a developer to follow what's going on

Yes, that makes sense. I have by now observed that it's indeed the case that I get one of these whenever someone posts an emoji reaction.
Can I assume the developers are aware, or should I still (have someone with a GitHub account) file a bug?@Fla said in Axolotl: contacts?:

To be honest I'm struggling enough with following what's going on here on this forum.

I bet they wil start using their own software once it becomes more suitable for use with groups...
if I recall correctly there are a few li'l bugs left to squish. -
@doniks we're already all using it but all other development channels are on Telegram so Axolotl one is there too. And it's especially useful when you have trouble with Signal and need help

Makes total sense to me.

Okay, I filed two bugs on Axolotl's GitHub. It's the first time I used GitHub so please forgive any mistakes, or point them out so that I can learn.
I hope it's helpful in any way. It's a worthy project and I'm eager to help it move forward. Unfortunately I can only help in small ways such as this.
