Great to see the NHTSA has replied and the reply is clear on the do's and don'ts. Thank you again for taking the time and sharing.
What do you propose we use as a logo?
The easiest way imo would be to use the objective/non-copyright alternative SOS logo (directly available from the emoji database).
If we were to do it the right way (read: most commonly known amongst emergency services) we should contact NHTSA, ask for their permission and adopt the exact same Star of Life as depicted in the filed one (with or without serpent, with or without the ICE marking in the Star.
With the document at hand I don't see any point in proposing another design as we would then need to go through NHTSA anyway because of the usage of the 'Star' to make it legit.
If needed the logo/icon can be changed later on.
We should make a decision and hopefully someone (@Syper ?) can continue to work on the ICE feature and get the app to the next level.

@3T_Ed How about keeping the original icon but adding ICE within the white cross. Something like this:
This is just a mockup, the cross should be more to the left. I made the cross a little bigger, just so that the text gets bigger.

It's not the design of the icon showed in the OpenStore that I really care about.
It is important that the icon in the topbar and on the lockscreen or underneath the Lomiri Circle*). People might get bored by this discussion by now but I can't stretch enough that it should really stand out.
The icon should be simple and easy recognizable when the phone is in the hands of bystanders and emergency services after that. The current icon (Heart + Cross + ICE) isn't.
*) I know @Flohack dismissed that option for now, however I hope that people will see the importance of this feature to have it imbedded in the lockscreen in an update soon.

Probably yes, if customization of the lock screen could become a reality. Some may not appreciate it when being that present though. On the other hand, if it would be an optional feature....why not? After all this is Ubuntu. And I'd be in favor for anything (subtle) that would make ICE stand out. Any ideas?Edit: Keeping a close watch on what is happening in the Calendar thread because of the somewhat similar request.

I tried to make a gif with these two images, with a pulsating effect like a heartbeat, it didn't turn out the way I wanted but I hope that you get the picture :winking_face:
The ICE icon is the base icon and the TOUCH ME! icon flikers in a pase simular to a heartbeat. -

Gimp handles (open/create) GIFs very well, did you try with it?

@Keneda Yes I did and when I created a gif with 20 layers, the exported file was over 17 MB. The forum allows 2 MB sized files. I optimized the layers for gif animation and after I exported the layers the file size was down to 400 kB. But the hearbeat effect was gone, the gif still changed icon but in a steady pase and not like a heartbeat. Then when I tried to upload it I discovered that the forum doesn't allow gifs :face_with_tears_of_joy:

As you may have seen already @Rondarius made his first .gif (see his latest comments). I had a chat with him yesterday and although his effort is appreciated and the message of the .gif is clear to what we want to achieve we concluded we could use professional input and skills for a good design for the lock screen in UT style. I suggested to @Rondarius to ping you and he agreed.
I don't know if you're into any sort of animated design. You could help by making a concept design for the lockscreen that is recognizable, subtle and distinctive. I'm well aware that your designs are abstract (reason why I like your designs), so I hope it could have both your design and appealing design for every user to enable the ICE app/feature and to convince the devs to have it included in a new lockscreen format (other than the Circle).
Based on the screenshot by Rondarius a design as wide as the notifications would be a nice start I think. It could be on top of that by default. Any other input is welcome.

If 17MB file worked nice when "gifed", then the optimised 400KB one should to, they are some tips to know for optimisation.But like said Moem, you could upload to imgur, over 4MB files will be made MP4 but anyway, like that you can share it with us ^^

Can you put me the original, not giffed (maybe XCF?), file on a share file website i must investigate this lol...
