        Hi
Does somebody has an estimate when something like !https://blog.brixit.nl/pinephone-camera-adventures-part-3/ will be available on UT for Pinephone?
I had a look on GitLab, but it was in another language...
        from another planet...

Or the part pasted you can't decipher?

@3T_Ed Sorry, wrong link, I've reedit the link. In his blog are links to the Gitlab, in the blog's header more specific.

The poster obviously is Dutch, his blog and github/Python camera project all seem to have been written in English.

The hole "another language from another planet" was a metaphor to the fact that I don't understand the entire Gitlab thing.

I've found the site of this developer from Cehia. He's one of the kernel developers for the Pinephone although he's dealing more with the Arch ports, but is nice to see how the things evolve. Have a look on his site for camera https://xnux.eu/ui/camera-app.html
Of course, there's much more on his site, just feel free to explore.
I recommend his channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJ7gli38Q2HWD8YV2wVEUyA to watch the progress of his work.

A dedicated person working on a nice app with little impact on the phone's resources. Excellent, as a non-dev I would suggest contracting him ($10 Pinephone contribution?) for replacing the current default UT camera app, have it be an AppArmor confined app in the OpenStore and have him dive into the camera issue known for devices still not able to take photos and videos.

@3T_Ed said in Megapixel app for Pinephone:

have it be an AppArmor confined app

Humm, that's not possible at the moment 🙂 .
The camera app is unconfined for a reason and it's the same limitation for the video chat feature.

Of course having a person fully dedicated to the one task of making camera experience better is a good idea.
But the contribution from Pine64 (10$/PP Ubports CE) is not enough to hire a good engineer for a year.
And, as I estimate, that will be roughly what is needed to focus on camera app only without the vast amount of work required for device specific issues with their camera...
