Are there any Americans in the States using UT?

@ragz I have used Ubuntu Touch on and off for the past year or so on different devices, although I am not currently using it (I am running CalyxOS on a Pixel 4a).
Phone functionality worked fine for me on an AT&T MVNO when I had my SIM card in a Nexus 5 and later a OnePlus 3 running Ubuntu Touch. The biggest hurdle to get over is the limited applications available on Ubuntu Touch.
Your best bet is to buy a well-supported phone (like a Nexus 5 for something cheaper, or a OnePlus 3/3T for something newer and more powerful), install Ubuntu Touch on it, and try it out.

Correct.

@ragz... I might be using it in the USA and it... might be just fine

It seems main US telecom operators (ATT, T-Mobile) are dropping GSM/2G/3G for supporting only VoLTE and that is an issue to use UT.

Please explain how that is an issue with UT.

@ragz It's only an issue with an older phone -- it will affect my Nexus 4, since it's 3G. But you are correct in that it is not a UT issue, it's a phone issue.

@totalrando
Yes it is. -
@ragz UT rely on oFono for modem management and it seems oFono (at least in many case) is not currently working with VoLTE.

@libremax I'm on a 3G phone using Tracfone and it works fine. But 3G is being phased out anyway, so I am upgrading.
