        #RMS #FSF Richard Matthew Stallman:
Since there is no act that falls under the justice of his country, the justice of the political correctness on Internet is convened to pronounce in haste a penalty without appeal: the banishment.

Simplified, in case you're out of the loop:

              1. Stallman makes problematic statement, resigns from board of the Free Software Foundation
              2. 18 months later Stallman and/or the Foundation has a change of mind, Stallman re-joins the board
              3. People point out that the problematic statement is still problematic, reflecting badly on the free software movement should Stallman keep his spot at the board
              4. Stallman joins Dr Seuss and Mr. Potato Head in the strange wave of post-45 cancel culture outrage

What a time to be alive.

Pardon my brevity, but I've been reading nothing but arguments about this for a week.

I have not seen one conversation about this topic which has remained in useful, measured debate. It has always devolved into name calling and subterfuge. I've watched friends leave and people get unreasonably upset over a conversation.

I don't think that we're able to debate this topic here. Please find another forum to do so.
