porting lenovo smart tab m10 plus x606
-
Hello all,
I`m searching for a New tablet and I have seen x606.
Has someone test it or know the developer? Is it good enough for testing?
If not, is there an Alternative? Here is the link in gitlab.

Thanks for your feedback

I've been using the 64/4GB version for the past months and I like it but of course not without issues. First of all, the port is pretty young and there's still no OTA support. The major issues are the non-working content hub and media hub and bluetooth issues. You can check the list of issues in gitlab. I've logged everything there There's a new build that apparently fixes some of them like the content hub but I haven't tried it yet. You can also check out a video of it on youtube to see how well it actually works
@TheKit is the porter by the way.

Thanks i have Seen the Video.
Did you installed Like described also with flashing the Android Rom With SP flash?
No problems?
I have ordered it and then i can test it also....
-
@fp2andfp3-user Yes, I used SP Flash, I don't remember any major issue that I encountered. I think I did encounter some minor ones when flashing the specific android version needed but I was able to fix them.

I have Seen rescue and smart Assistent From lenovo
https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds101291-rescue-and-smart-assistant-lmsa
Can i do it also With it to flash the earliest Android file?
I`m a little bit unsure With the SP flash tool.
Is the scatter file for mtk 6765 really the same like mtk 6762?
If the tablet is New? Is it maybe the earliest Rom, so I don`t have to flash it ?
I know the tablet is not Here, but I will prepare most of the steps when it will arrive next Week.
Thanks for your Feedback
Thanks for porting the device!
We need More tablets With ubuntu touch -
@fp2andfp3-user I think I used that tool too. I already forgot the steps I did but I indeed had many mishaps. I'll try to go back at them and let you know
-
I found these steps I mentioned in the telegram group after I successfully flashed mine so I guess these are good pointers to not encounter the same issues I had.
- Download the oldest image for your device and use that to downgrade your firmware
- Make sure the firmware is correct for your model. Mine is X606F as shown in on the box.
- When using SP Flash Tool, do not uncheck preloader even though the guide would tell you to do it. Make sure to use "download" or "firmware upgrade" mode, never "format all and download"
- Once you downgraded, try to boot and complete the device setup
- Download the standalone fastboot instead of the one provided by your distro (i.e. Ubuntu)
- Make your device has enough battery and your USB cable connection is stable
-
@kugiigi thanks tablet has arrived I will test it later....
-
@kugiigi so my tablet is Broken i did flash it With SP flash tool and it said download complete. Now nothing happened....only red light, if i Connect it to the laptop.....what is the Problem? What can i do? It said cannot recognized Hardware.....
-
@fp2andfp3-user did you try to unplug the cable and just push the power button?
-
@luksus yes I Tried.....nothing happened.... 75 seconds.....nothing only red light led
-
@FP2andFP3-User
Is the red light on, even if no cable is plugged?
When flashing, did you leave the preloader checked, as kugiigi suggested?
Which device do you got exactly: X606X, X606F, X606XA, X606FA ?
Which image did you flash?
Can you enter fastboot mode: long press power + volume down together?I was in similar situations multiple times, so I think there should be a way out.
Can you try to reflash it with SPFlashtool, maybe with the next newer image version?
Normally the device is off, you start the download-process in flash-tool and then you connect it the usb-cable, but sometimes I needed to push the power button, if nothing happened after connecting usb (I did experiment with preloaders from different versions, what did not went very well and I ended up in the same situation like you). -
-
@fp2andfp3-user The official tool from lenovo helped me recover mine before. Try that.
-
@kugiigi i have Tried yesterday but which driver? Before it recognized and after it told me cannot connect hardware
-
@fp2andfp3-user Sorry I can't remember anymore the details. From what I remember, the tool just successfully reflashed android on my tablet without much fuss.

Hi all,
I got this tablet just today to flash it with UT.
I've followed instructions here https://gitlab.com/ubports/community-ports/android9/lenovo-tab-m10-fhd-plus/lenovo-x606#installOne of the steps is to downgrade the tablet to Android 9.
I tried ROMs from here https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/lenovo/Tab_M10_FHD_Plus_2nd_Gen/ one by one to find out which one is Android 9. After flashing the third ROM tablet won't
power on anymore. LED indicating charging is on but pressing
the power button does nothing and holding volume down + power button does nothing either.
SP Flash tool gave no errors during the flash yet the tablet won't
power on.
My model is X606F MediaTek.Any suggestions ?

@marek_python @Luksus
The same for me i will check More Details in the evening -
I don't know if it helps but I noticed this error output when trying to flash the tablet with another ROM. Right before it fails it outputs:

I got this output by pressing the power button while the flash tool is attempting to connect.

@marek_python mh, I think that is an expected error, if the device is not turned off, when trying to start the flash procedure...
So what happens, if you start the flashing process, then connect the usb at the turned off device without pushing any button?
