Wont Accept APN Settings
-
Just got a cricket wireless sim card to use with my 6t. Service has been activated (just got the good to go email). But when i try to input any APN settinga they wont accept. The checkbox just turns grey and the settings wont save.
-
@mattmcbeardface There appears to be a bug somewhere in Hallium 9 builds. Try turning to airplane mode, and then try to manually create the APN. May take a couple of tries.
-
@rocket2nfinity still not working
-
@mattmcbeardface Took me about 5 attempts on OP5. Needed to reset then it worked by tabbing through each setting.
-
@lakotaubp I don't follow. What do you mean by tabbing through each setting? And i've already tried about 30 times to input APN settings using GUI. Is there a way I can "terminal" these settings into existence?
-
@mattmcbeardface Do you use telegram? It would be easier to explain how to 'terminal this' in the ubports us carrier problems forum.
In short, you need a new ofono build that isn't in dev or stable yet

@rocket2nfinity I do use telegram. You can find me at the same username @mattmcbeardface

So in doing a little more research...the Ubuntu Touch devices list does caveat that the SIM 1 slot in the OnePlus 6 is buggy and to use the SIM 2 slot. I managed to acquire a T-mobile version that only has the SIM 1 currently available. I just ordered a 2 sim tray. My hope is that the internals are still dual SIM and that the tray was the only blocker on the T-mobile variant. Hope to have an update later this week or early next.
I'm still open to learning how to help fix this APN issue on SIM 1. Until then I'll be using a Nexus 5 as a daily driver.
-
@mattmcbeardface Dev channel has a fix for two sim slots. And the T-mobile version is the better choice for NA users and is fully functional dual sim once you buy the tray
-
@mattmcbeardface JFI after trying to get my PinePhone to except new VPN after 6 attempts. Create new APN don't edit it or anything just create it and save. Then go back and add details. Might help might not.

Ok..figured out the root of the issue. Turns out the SIM slot was carrier locked even though the imei was showing clean.
I followed this thread to unlock:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/guide-sim-unlock-t-mobile-version-all-type-of-imei-supported.3915269/Phone now detects the carrier.

@mattmcbeardface Good news and you can now mark as solved https://forums.ubports.com/topic/6311/how-to-ask-a-question-and-then-mark-it-as-solved
