Waydroid patches added
-
Dear All,
today I added the Waydroid kernel patches and made a small tweak to pacify a crashing service, concluding my todo list for the Oneplus 5T (and 5). I will have to return the device now to the original owner, but from my point of view this is the best port I have made so far, so do not hesitate to use it acually
Whats a bit sad is though that I could not get the FP reader to work on the 5T (works on 5 lol). I tried for an endless time to debug this thing, but the problem seems to be buried deeply in the Android container, and as soon as a fingerprint is enrolled the whole stack refuses to list or verify prints, just by not responding to any service method.
One note for Waydroid, its is purely alpha, and even if you turn off your phone it will keep unity8 process busy for around 40%, meaning that the battery will be empty in hours. This is NOT a problem of the port.

@flohack Forgot to say: Tomorrows devel channel image should contain my changes from today
-
@flohack That sounds very good, much appreciated . Will try to use Waydroid next week.
-
@flohack thanks. You are the chosen one.

How can I install waydroid ATM? Currently failing with the OpenStore app and the python script on the ubports/xenial branch.
-
@nfsprodriver
May we assume your phone is OP 5/5t ? -
Yepp OP5, I installed python3-gbinder, fixed a json issue in the images.py file and I could init it, but now some services are missing.
-
@nfsprodriver I can only say that WayDroid runs on a straight UT install on OP5 on devel. So maybe clean install UT and start again but get WayDroid running first?
-
@lakotaubp May I ask, how you installed it?
-
@nfsprodriver The manual method B just under the devices list. https://forums.ubports.com/topic/5907/open-ubuntu-touch-to-all-android-applications/115

@lakotaubp Oooh, didn't know it's available via apt. Thanks for the link, marked it as bookmark. So let's see...
-
Worked like a charm, thanks so much!
