@leonetikos always glad to help.

@arubislander Thanks

@arubislander this is what I got and am unclear on what it means.

@leonetikos I took the liberty to edit your posts to make the terminal output more readable.
The last command was to check that all the plugs for the ubports installer snap are connected to the correct slots (they are).
What I don't understand is why the ubports-installer wants to create a directory in your $HOME/.config folder. It doesn't try to do that here.
Could we check which version of the snap you have installed with:
snap list ubports-installer
Could you post the output of that?
-
@arubislander very interesting.... here is what i just got.
leonetikos@leonetikos-hppaviliong7notebookpc:~$ snap list ubports-installer Name Version Rev Tracking Publisher Notes ubports-installer 0.8.9-beta 365 latest/stable ubports -
It looks better how you changed it anyway so thanks.
-
@leonetikos Which version of the installer are you getting 0.8.9 or 0.8.8? Just out of interest what happens if you double click on the file in the download folder. Odd but it fixed something similar for me not on lubuntu it must be said.
-
@leonetikos I'm to slow, can you try 0.8.8. It might seem odd but sometimes a different version fixes it.
-
@lakotaubp im pretty sure the only version ive been able to find is the 0.8.8 version. I have tried all the ways I know to open the files, double clicking, right clicking etc.
-
@leonetikos JFR lots here https://github.com/ubports/ubports-installer/releases not that it helps directly with the issue.
-
At this point I don't think we will get the installer working on your installation. Do you have a spare computer you could install regular Ubuntu on?
-
@arubislander Thanks for your help anyway its much appreciated but yeah it seems like its Lubuntu's issue or something. All the times ive seen someone do the installation they have actual Ubuntu installed so I will just consider Doing this project at another time. Thanks
-
@leonetikos Or install ubuntu on a usb stick (if you have a spare) and run it and the installer that way. This method often solves the issue
-
Lubuntu went downhill when they changed the desktop environment from LXDE to LXQt. Due to it being lightweight, it is missing a lot of dependencies that are in Ubuntu. I used it a lot on low powered PC's, it was a really good 32bit OS.
If you have a USB stick you can use that as Lakotaubp said and you don't have to install it, you can use the spare part of the USB stick as storage/persistence.
Here are some notes on my experience, and the community posts, especially Stanwood's were really helpful.
With UT, perseverance is key.
-
@Lakotaubp I think I might try that, Sorry its been so long and I stumbled on this and recapped this thread and may give it another shot. Cause thats a good Idea, AT THE TIME, I was just over the BS wit using Linux, but I HATE windows, but I really don't like how Linux as awesome as it is, its just...not finished so to speak. There are WAY to many issues and lack of compatibility. I mean this whole ordeal was long and arduous and totally unnecessary. Its like instead of refining what you have, often we as humans change to many things before refining what we have and things get convoluted.

@MrT10001 Too bad, and I do agree. I did like Lubuntu, but my favorite was KDE for a slick Desktop, but I assumed, ignorantly that Lubuntu would be identical just with out the same desktop. but yeah. Thanks
