When in silent mode, it should be possible to let some calls and sms through, like the favourites in contacts.
I would love this, too. And it could be on a schedule, so that we'd have a 'silent time' when we could only be disturbed by calls from a certain set of numbers. That would in fact reduce the need to have number blocking, in many cases.
-
@dizzy Oh, like the alarm that has a special role and avoids silence mode
-
@cibersheep Exactly. Thats how its working on Android.
You do the settings under "Do not disturbe" and there you can add exceptions for like favourite contacts phone calls/messages etc. You can also add exceptions for apps. -
@dizzy This would then seem like this is a feature that would not be implemented in the telephony app / stack of the OS, but wherever is decided if notifications of any kind in general should audible or not.
-
This is what it looks like on Android.

True. This is not a call/number block, it's a way to selectively silence notifications. It should be a lot easier than an actual block.
-
@moem I think blocking on Android is just about blocking notifications too. And removing the call from "missed calls" list. Not sure though.
Or maybe not. It guess it could also be call deny like you can do your self with the red button.... -
@dizzy I don't think we should follow Android path. Android can do whatever they like.
Let's find a way that makes sense or Ubuntu Touch, shall we?
-
I have divided (hopefully the thread) with the new subject

@dizzy Not really, since it also blocks if you use a 3rd party dialer app. Sailfish already did a lot of work in ofono, it makes sense to use it.
As for this, having DnD profiles would be nice too, so you could select which apps/people you want notifications from or when it gets enabled (schedule, certain app open, some other conditions?).

@klh Got it. Thanks for the explaination!
