VPN config - proton
-
Hi everyone, I'm trying to use the guide on protonvpn setup here: https://ubports.com/blog/ubports-news-1/post/vpn-on-ubuntu-touch-3022
I'm pretty familiar with proton services but I'm totally stumped on where to request these files:
ProtonVPN_ca.crt
ProtonVPN_tls-auth.key -
You need to login to the ProtonVPN website and download the config file for a server of your choice. It should be a text file with will contain the certificate and key that you copy the text and paste into the required fields.
I would install VPN editor from the App store, it makes life a lot easier.

@mrt10001 the file from proton is a single .ovpn file
the instructions say you have to request two files:
ProtonVPN_ca.crt
ProtonVPN_tls-auth.keyfrom proton support and they get emailed to you, having trouble sorting this out

@kaveman the password field in the vpn editor also refuses to save the value I put into it
-
@kaveman That is a common issue. I cannot remember how I got it working! I think someone had the answer in the forums, it is worth a search.
-
@kaveman Yes that is correct with the .ovpn, you should be able to "open with" notepad or the like and it should be there.

@kaveman I don't know if proton vpn works for your phone as i don't know (see) the name of your phone but proton vpn works on every smartphone i use(d) : OPO, BQ E5 HD, BQ 4.5, NEXUS 5, the tablet BQ M10 and my daily driver Volla phone currently.
Read carefully and apply the procedure of this thread and it should work unless there is something that makes your smartphone incompatible.
