Waydroid still installing on Vollaphone after 4 hours
-
I installed WaydroidHelper today and used the new 'Install Waydroid' button.
Everything went well and it displayed a spinner and message 'Installing Waydroid' and in a rectangle below 'Running' and advised me to be patient.
Its still installing 4 hours later with no change to the wording shown, so I'm beginning to wonder if it should have finished by now? The phone is still responsive and received a few texts during those 4 hours.

@treebeard Not overly up on this but it might be worth shutting down and restarting the phone then see what happens. WayDroid helper app makes removing WayDroid easy if needed. I used the old install method and it was mins not hours.

@lakotaubp Thanks I tried again and it installed in about 4 minutes. Looks like it just died the first time.

@treebeard I had the same issue, but instead of uninstalling and trying again I just gave up and thought I would have a broken installation now.
Some time later when I unlocked the phone, I was suddenly presented with an android lockscreen, so in fact the installation worked. I can also install/use android apps.
No idea what went wrong during the installation though.

@lakotaubp What is the "old method" to install waydroid?
I just tried using the helper to install, and it also seems stuck (failed silently)

@simiut Try restarting the phone first sometimes it has worked but needs a restart to finish. Or use Waydroid helper to remove waydroid then restart and look here https://forums.ubports.com/topic/5907/open-ubuntu-touch-to-all-android-applications/115 just read down a little.
I have found the Helper to be the better option though not tried on Volla I must admit. -
@lakotaubp
Well, Waudroid was created with VollaPhone as main plateform target, so it would be very strange he can't install at all on one of them. -
I have a pixel 2 xl so your mileage may vary, but it took me 3 times to get Waydroid to install. I used Waydroid helper, but the installation is extremely touchy. You have to keep your screen unlocked and you cannot touch anything or even have the screen rotate during the install or it will stall. I don't recall the snippet I read that gave me the clue to do that, but once I was able to get that down and not touch the phone at all, I was able to successfully install waydroid. I just did it yesterday.
