No mobile internet connection
-
Hello,
I dont have any mobile internet connection and i don't get why. Mobile datas are enabled, i can see my provider's name + signal strenght + L in the network notification zone, but if i disable the wifi, i don't have connection anymore.
I tried to reboot the phone, it gave me fake hope because it fixed the mobile connection...but only once, and now, it fails again even with reboots.
I can see in the notification zone a L is appearing briefly then disappears. I tried a
dmesg -w
And these lines seems to appear repeatedly
binder: 1467 has pending async transaction, but still adding a new transaction to todo list (gbinder bug workaround) binder: 2976 has pending async transaction, but still adding a new transaction to todo list (gbinder bug workaround) IPv6: ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): rmnet_data1: link is not ready

@stemy Hi,
where are you located and what is your SIM provider?
Have you already tried to adjust APN settings manually? (System Settings, Connection Settings)For me for example, I needed to disable the "internet"-APN checkbox, to get a stable "L"-connection.
On my first SIM-card though, it worked without doing nothing. -
Mobile viking, in Belgium.
I tried to set the APN parameters according their doc, but some parameters i had to set are absent (like APN type and authentication). Then i disabled/enabled connection and rebooted my phone, but no change, the L still blinking at an erratic pace. Unchecking the box does nothing, it is rechecked at the same time the L appears.

Update: it works well if i set on "3G only".
I see in the parameters that i can set a LTE APN, but it doesn't work, nothing happens when i confirm.

For those in the USA please be aware that both the phone and UBuntu Touch must implement VOLTE (Voice over Long Term Evolution), or the phones will not connect to a celluar network in the USA. Any new information on VOLTE implementation in UBuntu Touch would be very much appreciated. Regards, David S

@stemy I feel like I was experiencing something similar on my Redmi Note 9 Pro today with devel - I've seen the
rmnet_xxx: link is not ready
- and I had L if I opened up the network indicator, but no L was in the panel itself. I haven't thought of trying to switch to <= 3G, however I've also been in a area with poor signal for a while where I had 3G in the network indicator area (if opened) but the indicator in the panel itself was still empty. And when there is no 2G/3G/L right in the panel then no data flows (as "link is not ready").Nonetheless, it might be just some current devel glitch in my case (I hope) as it works just fine on rc and stable.

Hi!
I had almost the same problem on the latest development channel update. Mobile Internet did not work. Also the L-symbol was shown in the pull-down menu but not in the top bar unless waydroid was running. Then it was shown in the top bar too but didn't work either. I never had any problems with connectivity before in the last 5 months of daily use. Great work on the port btw! Thank you! -
@Stemy
So, are you using the devel channel and are the issues maybe solved by updating meanwhile?I also encountered similar issues a weak ago in devel, but after another update, it was working again.

I travaled abroad, and the 3G was not working either. But all connections, including LTE, started to working fine when i booted my phone after it was discharged. The problem is almost fixed. I say "almost" because sometimes, i don't have network at all when i boot my phone, but this is another story.
