@Angela_92 System Settings, battery then set sleep when idle to never. Then go to Libertine in system settings and tap on the plus. Then just press ok ( Fill in details if you want but not really needed) leave it to do it's stuff. When finished tap on container name and tap on plus sign top left and enter details.
Please remember Firefox is not really usable and I'm not sure on Libreoffice it's been ages since I had a look.

@Lakotaubp I thought of Firefox because it's the browser I have on my laptop, but if it's not usable here I'd better get used to the new one. Regarding Libreoffice, I just need to open spreadsheets and perform very basic operations, if there is an easier way to do this, I'd be happy...

@Angela_92 I don't know if one of the "note" type apps in the store would do what you need.

              Hi!

I have a similar problem - after unlocking my bq m10 FD it ended up in
"Orange State", and a boot loop, and I am not able to stop that boot loop or get access to the device via fastboot, or adb or the flash tool. Angela_92 wrote she had been able to break that loop. Unfortunately she did not mention how she was able to stop that loop... Any ideas on that?

@mrt10001 thanks, but that doesn't help me at all. As I wrote I can' t access the device. The boot loop persists, no matter what I do. It reboots every 5- to 10 seconds, showing the same message:

                  "Orange State

Your device has been unlocked and can't be trusted.
Your device will boot in 5 seconds"

I can't turn it off, it just keeps rebooting to show the orange state message.

@hankschwie Hold the power button down for a long time (sore finger). It may switch off. If you get it to switch off, hold volume up and down buttons and then plug in the charger.

Is it plugged into a PC on a USB 2.0 port?

@mrt10001 No use, no matter for how long I press the power button, it keeps looping into the same state. I guess I have to wait till the battery is completely drained before I can try anything at all.

lsusb does not show the device, it shows up only when I keep power, vol+ and vol- pressed at the same time. adb does not find it, not fastboot, no matter if I use USB2 or USB3 ports. I tried different cables as well (and those worked with the ubports installer).

@hankschwie Have you held the power button down till it switches off before starting up again. Before it starts up again hold the Volume Up button and release the power button.

@mrt10001 It simply does not switch of, it keeps restarting...

@hankschwie Yep when the screen goes dark and just before it starts up, be quick and hold the volume up button down. If that doesn't work, hold the volume down button. This is just before it powers up when rebooting.

How confident are you for splitting the device and disconnecting the battery?

@mrt10001 No chance using the vol+ button that way, the device just just keeps looping, no matter in which order I push or release buttons. I have already opened up the device, have to check how to disconnect the battery. I think I saw a youtube video somewhere how to replace the battery, I'll search for that.

EDIT: I was able to disconnect it, but as soon as I reconnect the battery, the loop starts as before....

@hankschwie When you disconnect the battery, once disconnected hold the power button down. Then reconnect the battery and see what happens. This should drain any residual current and may (may) be enough to shutdown the tablet.

@mrt10001 I could try, but I doubt if that changes anything. After a night of reboot loops the battery is more or less drained, the device is "shut down". But as soon as I connect an usb cable and power is provided again, the boot loop starts again, too.

Is there some hard reset tool available for Ubuntu Linux to force a reset? I found something like that, but it seems to be a windows tool.

EDIT: Tried to disconnect and then press the power button; as soon as I reconnect, the device tries to loop again, even with the the almost drained battery it vibrates about every 5 seconds. Same behavior as before with the charged battery.

OK, sometimes you don't see the forest for the trees... FInally I was able to use the flash tool; a little "sudo" helped a lot...

I reinstalled an Android 8.1 version, and afterwards I was able to use fastboot to relock the device.

                                    Thanks for your support!

@mrt10001 I have another BQ Aquaris m10 FD running Ubuntu Touch; the wifi bug is still not solved, so I can't use both devices within the WIFI network at home - I tried to change the address, but didn't succeed.
The whole thing started out when I tried to use twrp on the m10, I wanted to root it and to try Lineage or something similar... But that's a different story.

@hankschwie please tell me exactly how you did it. I tried launch UBPorts with sudo but it does not work. Can you link the URL to Android 8.1 (or anything else) ?
