Which phones support wired HDMI out?
-
Hello!
I am new to the Ubuntu Touch world, but have used Ubuntu desktop for many years.
I am in the market for a new phone, and am hoping that I can find one that runs Ubuntu Touch decently well, but also has the ability to have HDMI out. I want to be able to see Ubuntu Touch on an external device.
Does anyone have experience with a few devices that have this working?
Any help is greatly appreciated!Thank you so much!

@fireful0 Most well supported is Nexus 5 but it's very old now. New ones are the S10 series (Exynos), other S series phones but I have no personal experience, shift phone, and fxtec Pro1-X. Those are the ones I'm aware of. I think the main issues on those new ones are availability and port status. Not sure how easy it is to buy the shift phone and the Pro1-X hasn't even shipped from their Indiegogo campaign. Readily available would be the Samsung S series phones but I believe most have incomplete ports. The S10 in particular doesn't support the installaler and OTA updates.

@kugiigi Thank you so much for your response! I've been researching more, and it looks like the Oneplus One may be the best option. Even though it doesn't support wired display, the wireless display feature would work just as well for what I would be using it for.

@fireful0 I wouldn't count on wireless display that much. First of all, compatibility on UT is very limited. It's only known to work on Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter and I don't even know if it works on OnePlus One. Also, even if it works, wireless display has significant input lag that it's only really usable with media consumption. Even on Android, I never had a good experience with it.
