higher battery consumption since last rc update
-
@messayisto now it shows:
16.04 (OTA 22) and then:
But it is still not possible to switch channels. I switch to RC, go back and it shows Stable...and so on. -
@messayisto ignore that, its a long known bug. how to properly switch channels:
- On the CURRENT channel, install any pending updates, let it restart
- Go to the updates again, open the gear icon. select channel, change it
- Go back TWICE. Do ignore the wrong channel display in the window in between
- It will download now the full image of the target channel.
Do this only on WiFi and with battery >50%

@flohack said in higher battery consumption since last rc update:
Do this only on WiFi and with battery >50%
It works fine for me with mobile data, of course i have enough Go amount to do this.
I would add to plug charger in for security. -
@flohack Thanks - actually I thought I knew this trick, because this way I had changed to Stable - but the other way round turned out to be a real pain in the a... Whatever: I am back on RC again and will see if the issue is to reproduce.

@messayisto Back on RC the behaviour is the same as before: very high battery consumption. I contacted Shouko on telegram. He said must be on UT-side. hm. Now I decided to reflash RC with the installer. Lets see whts next...
-
@messayisto same. - Cesar herrera gave me a hint on telegram, that it could be bluebinder (bluebinder, what is it?)
could it be this? -
@messayisto https://github.com/droidian/bluebinder
Maybe try to deasable WIFI and NFC ? -
@saveurlinux Thanks - but as one can see in the screenshot none of those is turned on...
-
@messayisto at least not visible and intentionally
-
@messayisto huum... I am on stable now and don't dare to test RC again, because its such a hussle... And my scary question is: Do I upgrade or do I not? Does "bluebinder" mean for my device, to better turn off bluetooth in OTA 23? I feel pretty clueless, can somebody help?

@messayisto
After a few conversations on Telegram and here: The third time I tswitched to RC, there was finally no quick battery drain. So I apologize for the fuss I made - I was really a bit scared - and thank you for the support.
Nonetheless, I have no idea what it was - but who am I to complain.... I'm glad everything is working again.... helpful I was just not testing, sorry for that too. -

@messayisto Sorry for reactivating this old thread.
Now on focal with the same device, on devel. Battery consumption is very high again and "top" finds out its the ominous bluebinder process again. So I tried to kill it, but it failed. Next thing I have tried is to change channel, I am now on RC - and voila, this works. Bluebinder is not running anymore, battery drain is normal again. Just in case someone on devel is wondering about the high energy consumption of the device...
