Posteo webmail timed out Morph
-
Hello, I've decided to switch to German mailprovider Posteo. I can send mail from my Ubuntu desktop OS PC using Thunderbird mail client (POP3) or webmail. I can also email from my UT Volla Phone using Dekko2 mail client (POP3), also with my Posteo aliases. All is well, except webmail from Morph. I can login to Posteo.de, write a message and click Send. It displays “Sending message” for a while, followed by “An error occured. Request timed out.”
Sending a Posteo webmail on UT through the alternative browser Demo works. It only fails in Morph.
Does anyone know why, and if there is a way to succesfully send a Posteo webmail in Morph? -
@alter using quite regularly their webmail in Morph with no such problem, albeit non private mode, have not tried private mode. Btw. good choice imho.

@mschmids : Thanks, I'm happy too with my move to Posteo!
I do wonder why the Posteo webmail in Morph works at your end, while here it fails?
Do you have Posteo server-side encryption activated for stored emails/ email at rest?
Did you make any changes (I don't know if this is even possible) in configuration for Morph with UT Tweak Tool?
Which phone do you use and which channel?
Just looking for a way to explain the difference.
I'm happy that Demo browser and Dekko2 work, so I can send and receive with them, but since Morph is the default browser I would like it to work too. -

Are you using uAdblock ?
-
@keneda : No, I don't have the ad blocker installed. So that's not it. But thanks for the suggestion!

@alter the good news is, that there should be a solution. Xiaomi Mi A2, OTA-23 stable, yes mail storage encryption activated, mhm what else? I do not recall having made any specific changes. Maybe the friendly support team has a helpful hint.
Side note, in case of interest, I have also successfully integrated calendar and contacts with syncevolution scripts.
-
@mschmids : different phone (Volla) and channel (RC), the rest looks the same, storage encrypted too and no changes to browser. Hm...
Maybe I will contact support. If I find the reason, I'll post it here.
I actually don't use calendar and only have a few contacts, so no need for scripts, but thanks! -
@alter now facing the same issue after updating to OTA-24 stable, same for save btw. This is the output from
tail -f .cache/upstart/application-legacy-morph-browser-.log
when the composer window opens:

@mschmids : Ah, sorry to hear!
Although I'm relieved it isn't my phone's configuration, as it happens on another type of phone now too.
I'm not a technically skilled person, I cannot read the logs and know for certain which action to take.
Since it occured at latest OTA upgrade, I think it's OS-related, I guess it should be reported here:
https://github.com/ubports/ubuntu-touch
I believe Morph is part of core UT too, not sure.
Could you check at above Github if the issue has been reported yet (not sure what to search for, Webform not posting?), and if not open a ticket with all your findings.
Let me know, and I will add my details (phone, os version number) to it.
Kind regards, Alter -
@alter : Another user just reported browser issues after last OTA-24 update too. See:

I have a problem using Posteo webmail with Morph browser: action buttons (like Send, Save) don't work and produce Time Out error. Demo browser works.
I want to report this issue, but I am unsure where and how. Can anyone guide me?
Another user posted screenshots in this thread of the technical details. I can't tell what the core error is.
What should I write in error report and where to post it? -
@alter : because it may be a general Morph issue, I made a new post here: https://forums.ubports.com/topic/8434/webpage-button-not-responding-morph-browser/1
