a few weeks or about a month ago me and a buddy tried porting halium to a random device and we found it was chock full of missing links and libraries outdated in the end we had to give up

so my question is can we the community please get a updated code base that just works when trying to follow the guides ....or is there one already?

@developerbayman I don't see why such a thing, when it comes to exist, should only be restricted to community members.

Having said that. During your endeavours, did you reach out fornhelpmin the Telegram porting channel?

@arubislander id have to politely disagree

because right now UT could use some serious FOSS love

we should get the tools and a clear path of developmental success into the hands as many developers as possible

@developerbayman I guess you can't expect up to date libraries on an OS based on 16.04. Devs have been running in circles for years trying to implement modern aspects into this rigid frame for years. Now we're going towards an LTS version. Expect easier compiling ^^

@emphrath As far as I understand it, the Halium parts are not necessarily tied to the version of Ubuntu Touch, but more-so to the version of Android the drivers it is trying to expose to Ubuntu Touch were written for
