pixel 3a XL recovery mode
-
Hi all
Have the device unlocked, developer mode etc...when requested via the installer to activate 'recovery' ends up at the green dead android awaiting a command (can activate by hard key, power & up)...but this issue is stalling the install.....love the OS have been using a Nexus 5 for years...any help with advice on restoring the option on recovery within the boot loader would be grately appreciated. -
@Luke-0 You need, at the no command dead android, hold the power key and tap the volume up. It is the only way to get to the recovery menu on a lot of Android devices. I fell your pain, there is a lot of things that make life difficult amongst all these devices (try unlocking the bootloader on an Xiaomi device, tears will be shed).

Hi
Appreciate the rapid response....I'm ok with being able to boot to recovery with a new install (PQ3B.190801.002) albeit via the above steps. The problem arises when I attempt to install ubports...after the initial flash the request to move to recovery mode appears...but now unable to access recovery via buttons & hangs on the G screen and wont progress to the dead andriod. It appears the initial flash has removed the ability to do this....end in a reinstall of OS. Does this signal the end of utports being on my Pixel 3a XL?Apology for ramble...but frustrating as bought phone (not cheap) for this purpose, as rated as a good device for this process. Is there a fix for this out there?
Kind regards

@Luke-0
Pixel 3a is well supported for installing Ubuntu Touch on it, and from what i know reading the forum, should be easy to flash.What version of UBports installer do you use ?
What OS on your PC ?
Are you using USB 2.0 ports on your PC ?From what i experienced [re]installing Ubuntu Touch on my MX4 using UBports installer, it should be "full auto" from the time you connect the device to be flashed when prompted by the installer, to the end of flashing process.
Loosing connection in the middle of the process is either an installer issue (bug) or an ADB connection issue, that for me, was a lack of properly installed ADB drivers (for me, connection was lost every time at the exact same time).

HI all
Cracked it....cant believe I missed this:
As part of the usb debugging enable...there is (what I would describe as a hidden menu) down the page which if tapped (the icon) gives options under usb...selected 'file transfer' and all came good! Oddly nobody on any forum , android or otherwise had even mentioned this....perhaps I'm bit of a dummy...or there's an assumption that we know this stuff without any help or education.
SOLVED.
Look good for the next few years -
@Luke-0
Glad you sorted this.
Can you please now proceed like mentionned there : https://forums.ubports.com/topic/6311/how-to-ask-a-question-and-then-mark-it-as-solved
