How to updae (ota) without computer?
-
@supaiku If you are on 16.04 all but the odd critical update have now stopped., so if you are on the latest 16.04 update for your channel there may be nothing to update too. 20.04 should be updating ok as far as I can remember.
-
@Lakotaubp im on 20.04 - what is the update process supposed to go like?
-
@supaiku Does it download the update from the devel channel? The OP5 used to be like that needing the installer but now updates like any other device.
Theses are not really ota but daily development updates I need to check which channels are available for for 5t but try devel and see -
@supaiku Hold on just tried devel and it stops at boot screen. Need to check.
-
@Lakotaubp It downloads and then says it should restart.
the device build is:
lineage_dumpling-userdebug 9 PQ3a, 190801.002 181 test-keys -
@supaiku Maybe you are still on an old update from before the issue was fixed.
-
@supaiku My other OP5 has just updated on devel in the normal way so guess it should be the normal way now. will reflash the other and see how that goes over the next few days. It has been a while since I updated the OP5s
-
@supaiku I was thinking to try to update with the desktop tool, but I'd rather not have to reconfigure my apps if that's gonna erase things...
If I'm on an old version with this broken updater, is my only option to refresh entirely with ubports-installer, or is there a way to update without losing my data/apps?
-
@supaiku Just don't tick the wipe user data box and you will be fine. What channel are you on? the 5 has stable rc and devel. Mine was last updated I think April and was on devel 20 something now on 343.
-
@Lakotaubp I don't see how to view what channel I'm on - but I'll go to stable
-
@Lakotaubp When you do update if you try again without the installer change to RC. Devel without installer has no working wifi
-
@supaiku The wifi issue from the other day was a hang over from devel issue a few days ago so that has been cleared up. Also updated both OP5 using normal update method and both restarted as expected.
So I would try installing RC over a wifi connection then stay there or move to devel depending on the risk level you want.
If that does not work use the installer without the wipe option ticked.
