What kind of smart watch do you use (or would use if it had an app on UT)?
-
@klh mine is the forerunner 935. It can sync through wifi or BT. Since I already have a Garmin account, after syncing via wifi I can see all the things from the website, so I'd use the core features from there. Might just need to be disconnected from the phone to switch to wifi but idk, it isn't explicit from the watch what it is using during sync...
I might try sniffing if I find some time, thanks for the link, I'll read it! Tbh I don't know which sensitive data it could contain that I don't want to share, aside from notifications which I can send dummy messages by myself: heart rate, step count, etc... I mean, what someone would ever do with them? Anyway I'll try to have a look at the content before sharing if it's human readable, thanks! -
@mymike Btw some watches require an account to set up, so I plan on having some functionality for that anyway - might be able to pull data from a Garmin account too if they are not changing that too frequently.

I have an Amazfit Neo that I use with the amazing Gadgetbrigde on Android.
But I believe most Huami watches (at least the cheap/early non-Zepp-OS Amazfit and Xiaomi) are pretty similar, in my understanding, adding support for one would open up the door to quite a few of them (with some adaptions per watch, of course).

@klh - I have 4 different watches that I have flashed to Asteroid OS: Ticwatch C2+ (skipjack), Huawei gen1 (sturgeon), LG G Watch R (lenok), and LG Watch Urbane (bass). These sync to Android using either the Asteroid OS sync app or Gadgetbridge.
There is a UT native Asteroid OS sync app called Telescope that has yet to be updated to Focal, I believe the maintainer of this app was needing some help to figure out getting around some issues for this port.
Best regards,

Hey @klh! How is it going, is there any news?
-
@Moem a bit too much happening at work, I didn't have the energy to do anything buuuut we did figure out that Pebbles work fine on focal, the issue is in the RockWork app and it would need a reimplementation - probably less work for me to add Pebble support to mine once it actually exists.
Other than Pebble, I definitely plan to support PineTime (with Infinitime) from the start since it seems like the second most popular one.
-
@klh Well, thank you, that is a bit of news!
My Pebble doesn't yet want to stay connected on focal on XperX or Op1. So I can't move from xenial to focal just yet. And since I will also need a watch app, I will simply wait patiently for your new app to eventually appear.
Take your time, it's not worth risking your mental health for an app. We'll just wait, it's fine. -
@klh i have a Pinetime. Pairing with phone does not work however, only with computer. It is a very basic watch.

I see there's work being done on a clickable build for Amazfish. It doesn't look that far-off:

Thank you for this great project.
I personally use Huawei watch 3 and will be happy to have UT app for it.
If I can help with testing or anything else I will be very happy to do so.
