Hi guys!
I am new to the community
just wondering if anyone have tried any other alternative OS except for UT? for example grapheneOS or Linage or anything alike?
Are there any benefits in terms of security and resistance to hacking? any pros or cons in usage?

@UTdroid Hi. I have tried e/OS and also Sailfish OS. Sailfish is similar in the way the touch screen works to UT and has a reasonably good app store. It is also known as Jolla. I have also tried Plasma Mobile, which is very rough around the edges and looks a lot more like a Linux system.
e/OS is based on Lineage, so is Android stripped out and more privacy oriented.
e/OS is my fallback. UT is by far the better for me for a community driven phone os.
They all have their quirks and issues.
Hacking is another issue. I have never had an issue with it. -

isn't it the main issue with commercial OSs like IOS and Android ? even my wifi router has linux installed on it hahah -

@UTdroid Security is such a broad word. Technically, UT isn't the most secured OS out there. It tries its best but it's not its main priority. It doesn't even support locking the bootloader yet in any device as far as I know and also has no support for disk encryption. These means in essence, UT is actually not secured from physical access hacking
While in terms of privacy, UT makes a conscious effort to not violate your privacy however it also lacks basic "privacy" features by default such as adblockers and support for some VPN.It's nice that you choose UT but I think it's also important to know what it really is currently so you can decide accordingly

This is not a limitation of the OS, as this is more the case of not having any means of leveraging the manufactures security implementations.
With devices were the signing keys are available, the JingPad comes to mind, there the bootloader can safely and successfully be locked.

wow... I have just googled it and was quite surprised that a linux based OS doesn't have basic privacy instruments like disc and file encryption oO
Do you know if there are any plans of introducing such features later on in the upcoming versions? I have found that this question is being asked by the members of the community since 2015 haha...

@UTdroid It's always part of the plan and I think some have experimented on it but nothing ready yet. It's not easy to and needs someone capable and willing to implement it

To the initial question: Yes, I used SFOS for 4 years and now after a failed flashing procedure I installed UBT on Volla (GS290) for curiosity and for way of variety.
