I'll preface this by saying I'm a total noob. I'm trying to install UBPorts on a Fairphone 4 that was running Android 13.

I thought I'd followed all the steps and it seemed to go smoothly. The installer said it was successful but now when I try to boot the phone it goes to the boot screen, shows the warning about the bootloader being unlocked, then back to the boot screen and just stays there. I've left it for about an hour but it hasn't changed.

Is there any way I can try the installation again or failing that just put android back on it?

I may be wrong but I don't think android 13 is the android version that Ubuntu Touch needs to be installed on this device before installing itself.

Edit : from device page I see that this is android/FairPhoneOS 11 which is needed...
You must start from scratch again, with first installing FPOS11 on your FP4, it's a mandatory step.

@Keneda Fair enough. I was going to stick with 11 but the Fairphone site said to update it to the latest version before unlocking the bootloader. Any ideas how I put 11 back on it? Especially since it's unbootable

Dear dh297. I just received the FP4 abd by default Android 13 is installed. I began the unlocking steps and operation from a windows 10 desktop. Don't forget to install the special google driver for usb in w10 upgrade system interface (windows key+i)
UBport has began the installation operation and after a rebootibg of my device it loose the USB connexion.

So screen I see on my device is the recovery screen of ubport.

I understood that the real problem was loosing usb connexion.

I ran 5 time the process after recovery and 5 times it failed.

Finally I decided to test it through my linux desktop and That's IT! It works perfectly

So android 13 is OK! But try to install with the ubport under a linux desktop and it it was easier than from windows because you just have to install a few linx package then the rest is natively supported to run the automatic installation.
                Now it's success!!

                Good luck šŸ™‚

Just for anyone that stumbles across this. I was actually just having the same issue, and I was using a Linux desktop with ubports-installer, and I still was getting the same exact issue as you. I did however do as Keneda suggested, and installed Android 11 (previously had Android 13). I ran ubports-installer again, and the installation worked perfectly after that.

You can find an installation for Android 11 in the link below.

Good news is that it's actually very easy to reinstall Android 11. Your bootloader is probably already unlocked, so I think all there is to do is just download the right Android version that they give, and run the right script. I would do the Android setup on a Linux desktop though. It makes it a lot easier; rather than worrying about USB drivers and stuff.

                  Good luck!
