Ive got a Nokia Lumia 1020 but the problem is, its running an outdated Windows OS. I would like to install Linux but 1) I dont know how 2) Im blonde and 3) Ive got no idea where to start.
From what I could gather there has been attempts to install Ubuntu Touch on the device but the few post Ive seen while googling are scattered far & wide as well as being a couple of year old.
My first question is obviously is it possible to run Touch on the phone? Would it be practical in terms of usability? And if it is where do I start? What would I need to get? Where do I get it? How do I implement and install it? How do I set it up? Or would it just be better to install a version of Android on the phone instead?
Basically what Im asking for is an idiots guide to what Im guessing would be a complexed, high IQ task or at least in my case. But like Einstein said "if you can't explain something in the most simplest of terms, then you dont understand it well enough."
Any help would be appreciated, thank you.
May the force be with you.

@SteveMcQueen you can rest easy as the answer is very simple. There is currently no way to run UT on that device, and there are currently no ongoing plans or efforts to do so.
Unfortunately with your self described skillset the effort needed to even start exploring how, if at all, to get this done, the task would probably be very daunting. There is no idiot's guide for doing so, because much of what is needed is currently unknown, or non-existent and would either have to be discovered or made first. -
@arubislander Okay cool thanx for that. So Linux is out of the question, but would there be some flavor of Android that I could maybe use for it?

@SteveMcQueen said in Installing Ubuntu touch on a Nokia Lumia 1020:
So Linux is out of the question ...
Ubuntu Touch is a mobile Linux distribution, but not the only one around. It is however the only mobile Linux distro that is actively tracked on this forum. If any other Linux is available for your device, an internet search is the best way to find out about it.
would there be some flavor of Android that I could maybe use for it?
Again, looking elsewhere will give you better answers to that question than here. Maybe try searching or asking on XDA forums.

@SteveMcQueen
I'm afraid all you'll have for your phone is W10.
