tweaking UT a few ways...

Hi all-

i have a few questions about how to makes a few tweaks to UT.

#1: My desktop displays time using AM / PM. How can i configure things so it displays in 24 hour time (ie, display 20:00 rather than 8:00 PM.) ?

#2: Can the Messaging app support different sounds for different contacts? If not, is there an alternative to Messaging that does?

#3: Some (all?) apps don't function when the phone is locked. For example, something as simple as Recorder will stop recording when the phone is locked, and immediately start again when unlocked. Is there a way to have it run normally while locked?

#4: When locked (including when screen is off), the volume buttons still work. So i am often accidentally changing the volume just when i move the phone. Is there a way for the volume buttons to be "disabled" while the phone is locked?

#1: it ist possible, but I wonder if it is just determined by the system-language. But for me in German, it is the 24 hour format.

#2 and #3: there is the UT-Tweak-Tool, there you can configure apps, to stay active, when the phone is locked. And there is an option for individual message sounds per contact.

#4: No, it is not possible afaik.

Regarding #2 and #3, i used to use the Tweak-Tool on my UT Xenial phone. When i moved to Focal, the app wasn't available in the Open Store. But after your comment, i just checked now, i see they released a Focal version only a month ago, so yay!

The UT Tweak Tool doesn't seem to always work for such events.

I am using an app that makes use of gps, and i have "prevent app suspension" for that app enabled in UT Tweak Tool. However, the gps still only tracks when the phone is not locked.

I notice a few other apps don't seem affected either- for example when taking a video the camera just stops recording when the phone is locked.

Any fix for such events? Am i missing something?

In the OS category there is a topic about background location that may be interesting for your GPS issue.
On the other hand, I think nobody would had though about disabling the volume buttons. You may want to use them for your headphones even with the phone locked.

#1: 12/24hr clock does indeed seem linked to system display language as Luksus wondered. It'd be nice to be able to change this independently, I agree. But maybe pretty minor in the scheme of things, and the folks doing development have a lot of important work going on.
I'm able to set mine to British English, which is close enough to Canadian English, and gets me a 24hr clock.

#3: It's hit and miss for me too on whether apps where I've disabled app suspension work when the phone's locked. On my Oneplus 5T when I shut the screen off, audio playing in Morph cuts out, as do voice calls over Jitsi, but Podbird keeps playing and normal phone calls work fine. Recorder keeps playing on playback mode, but will stop recording.
