        How to install Lomiri

Lomiri has made great strides recently and it would be good if many people could test it on Ubuntu 24.04, Debian unstable,...
But installation instructions are hard to find.
The Lomiri.com site is not updated, points to GitHub which redirects to GitLab which contains references to GitHub...
        In short, it's a mess.
I found an answer from Marius Gripsgard on X (Twitter):

"You can now install it on unstable :):
        apt install lomiri-desktop-session mir-graphics-drivers-desktop lightdm
        ".

Hopefully this will help someone and the websites will be updated soon.

          hi libremax

I tested it with debian twice and always with the same result

The first time with the Gnome Flashback sid desktop and the second without a graphical environment with the Sid repository

          apt install lomiri-desktop-session mir-graphics-drivers-desktop lightdm

          error message

          root@debian:~# apt install lomiri-desktop-session mir-graphics-drivers-desktop lightdm

@carl I installed the minimal version of Ubuntu 24.04 Daily build, rebooted into the new install and then installed the package lomiri-desktop-session manually from a terminal. Be sure to select lightdm as the default display manager.

After rebooting, everything worked surprisingly well.

@carl Are you sure you use Debian unstable (alias Sid) ?
Can't test or help more for now, I don't have a Debian unstable...

                Hi libremax

                yes Debian unstable (alias Sid)

I retested with an installation from debian stable

                • bookworm stable/12
                  root@debian:~# apt install lomiri-desktop-session mir-graphics-drivers-desktop lightdm
erratic behavior, therefore very difficult to use.

                • trixie testing/13
after a few seconds the screen freezes and asks me for my password on my second screen which is inaccessible.

                • trixie unstable sid/13
I only used my main screen, but after a few seconds it still asks me for my password and it is impossible to configure my keyboard (Canadian multilingual).
