On my Volla Phone 22 (UT 20.04, OTA-4, stable), the alarm clock always fires on max possible volume, which gives me almost a heart attack in the morning. No matter what settings or volume I choose.
I tried everything I found, like changing the sound, make all settings before creating the alarm, etc.
        Even uVolMan doesn't help.

I also got a Volla Phone X (UT 20.04, OTA-4, stable). Everything worked out of the box from the beginning (same settings).

So is there a device specific problem or what could be the reason for this freaking loud alarm?

@jojumaxx I have the same problem on my Volla Phone 22 (UT 20.04, OTA-4) and a similar GS5 Pro. I guess it affects only some devices, otherwise this bug would be more prominent and be fixed already πŸ™‚

I also tried the countdown (in the clock app). Same problem. Interestingly, if I push VolUp or VoldDown during the alarm, the heard volume is instantly in the configured speaker range.

It is a showstopper if you need an alarm because it might damage your ears,

          Any ideas or workarounds?

If more devices are affected, opening an issue at https://gitlab.com/ubports/development/apps/lomiri-clock-app would be ok, I guess.

Have u tried uVolMan from the OpenStore to manage the volume of different audio outputs?

Yes. I tried again, without any effect: all levels are ok, but the alarm ignores them and starts at maximum.

@jojumaxx Silly question but did you try setting the alarm volume in the clock app settings (cog wheel top right)?

@Ian This is how I "fixed" it previously and was going to comment this as well πŸ™‚ I had the same issue right after switching phones, so I blamed it on the phone (OnePlus One) back then. It was only after a long time I found those clock settings.

I tried it before and now; no change. As vibration works, I will try to choose an empty alarm sound (as a workaround).

Yes, I tried. I have everything exactly set like on my Volla X where it works fine.

Seems to be fixed with OTA-5 (20.04).

                          Thank you!
