        Got a tablet for my 10 years old. She had one before, a kid's tablet, but she couldn't finish some games unless I allowed the tablet to report precisely how often she played, her score, etc. No way.

        I did some homework and ordered a Lenovo Tab M10 HD 10.1", LTE, 64GB 4GB RAM, on the list of Ubuntu-touch compatibles. Now I'm waiting for the delivery and wondering whether I didn't bite more than I could chew.

        I've installed Lubuntu (or other Ubuntu flavours) several times. I usually find it pretty straightforwards, except once, over 20 years ago, when I had to fight during several days to get the sound functioning.

        I avoid Debian because I don't like RTFM answers. Never tried to install any other Linuxes. Never rooted a phone or a tablet before.

        This is to give you an idea of my level of competence. So, now my question : how long is it going to take me to install Ubuntu-touch on that tablet?

          @Alain A more pertinent question is, what do you expect from this tablet once Ubuntu Touch is installed on it? Most of the experience you gained operation Ubuntu on the desktop will not carry over to using UT.
          Installing software vai apt is not supported. Software is installed from the Open Store. https://www.open-store.io. You could browse the apps on there to see if everything you need is there.

          There are other options for installing software, but they all have their drawbacks and difficulties.

            @Alain regarding installing:

            You need to unlock the bootloader, there are plenty of how to's for that.
            For that you will need a PC where the little tool fastboot is installed.
            Then you might need to downgrade the device to the appropriate Android version. Usually the ubports installer gives short instructions where to download the right firmware.

            After you unlocked the bootloader and the device is running the right Android version, you just use the ubports installer to flash Ubuntu Touch onto the device.

            Thats it. πŸ˜‰
