Snap/Vivaldi/Firefox related problems
-
Yesterday I installed Ubuntu Touch 24.04-1.x Stable on my Volla Quintus. Because I really like the snap feature, I immediately installed Firefox and Vivaldi via snap.
Icons for both apps show up in the list of apps.
When I start Vivaldi I see the browser window. Clicking in the UI of Vivaldi works. But I cannot type in a URL, because the keyboard does not show up when I click into the URL field. Is there a way to force displaying the keyboard?
Another problem with the snap installed Vivaldi: Often when I started (and closed, as far as possible) Vivaldi, the smartphone cannot be restarted or shut down via the menu. Only pressing the on/off-button works. When I start Firefox a transparent window appears. It can be closed but there are no visual elements.
Did I do something wrong, is this simply a work-in-progress, or are some of the problems bugs and should be reported?

I do not know, if "OS" is the best category for this question. In case someone has a better suggestion for a category to post this in, I will move (or delete and repost) this message.

There is a known bug with Snaps that osk is not properly called up with them. From my understanding Mir 2.x integration is needed to fix this, and while this is something the core dev team is working on, it might be a few months before it arrives for UT. A possoble work around is to use bluetooth keyboard with these apps.
For Firefox, I would suggest installing the version built for UT by Fuseteam, it features osk working, along with touch scrolling, pinch to zoom, as well as some tweaks to the gui better optimizong it for mobile use. Just download the most recent build for arm64, unzip, and then open the click in Open Store to install - https://gitlab.com/debclick/uFirefox/-/artifacts
