Input lag? Keyboard issues.
-
While typing on the keyboard, let's say texting with a friend, the keyboard cannot keep up with my typing. My regular phone has no problem keeping up. I find that there is some kind of lag while typing, otherwise if I text at my regular pace, certain letters and characters are missed and I have to backspace and re-enter each word.
Does the keyboard receive active development? Predictive text is meh as well, simple mistakes such as "woth" do not get suggested the correct word.
Typing on Ubuntu touch is kind of a pain in the ass. I really want to daily drive this but this has been a small setback.

@zakafx Have you checked if auto correction is enabled in keyboard setting ?.
Otherwise i don't see any lag on Pixel 3a 24 04 except some keyboard crash that happen from time to time.

@lduboeuf yes, I have those settings enabled.
It seems that the input response time needs to be shorter between keypresses, otherwise I need to slow down my typing and gets annoying, hence this "lag" I am describing. I use the pixel 3a xl on 24.04daily myself.

out of idle curiosity, how fast would you rate yourself ? Sometimes in public transport I have seen people who are true speed monsters, maybe no one in the project has the same performance and so developers have no idea that the keyboard is not the fastest. I for one am not able to check for this problem as I am a slow operator.
OTOH this particular phone could have a hardware or software problem.

I think for fast typers UT's keyboard definitely would feel slower and I guess it also depends on the device and port. There are optimizations and improvements that can be done.
At the moment, autocorrect isn't recommended because it kinda suck
You can still use word suggestions though which can be helpful.
