Great news: Calls availiable in whatsapp web!

Great news indeed! This is something I was long waiting for (as a linux desktop user also).
It still doesn't work for me even though it asked persmission for the camera and the camera led briefly turned on.
- firefox on opensuse Leap 16
But this looks like soon it will work! Thank you for pointing it to us!

It's true that it does not seem to do anything for now, when clicking on the button....
I don't really understand how whatsapp keeps pushing things in production to whatsapp web that simply don't work as if it were a beta tester channel.
-
@pparent I actually am on whatsapp desktop beta... Is it launched in production as well? - that is strange, indeed...

Yes
An there has been so many failed upgrades these late months, with several hours of downtime and/or bugs I don't understand.
-
@pparent Probably due to all the mandatory vibe coding going on everywhere these days in companies forcing their devs to dogfood the inhouse AI.
-
The button seems to have disappeared again, this is very hard to understand coming from a company with billion users....
-
Calls working now?

-
Hum seems to be availiable in Beta. I will test with someone this evening.
Did you test in desktop and in Whatsweb?
EDIT: in whatsweb I don't actually see the button so I guess it must not be compatible with older versions of chromium engine.

@pparent On linux desktop whatsapp web calls work, even video calls - even though the other party didn't see me but that may be a problem on my part, I don't know.
Whatsweb doesn't work anymore for me since last night - it uses CPU at maximum and then exists...

Calls are available in this new app:
