I am trying to install apps but app installer gives me error: "installer keeps crashing". I am using 1+ 6t. I had apps instaled in the past and it worked fine. I reinstalled waydroid with no luck. I think it is a permission problem, because I have been messing up with home folder permissions.

      Any ideas?

Reinstall using UBPorts installer and don't tick the wipe user data box.

Then if you can save your personnal data, just do it, and reinstall Ubuntu Touch but this time tick user data erase.

If that doesn't work, or you can't save your data, and if someone with more skill than me see this he may want to know which folder or file did you mess with, for what purpose?

try to rename ~/.local/share/waydroid to ~/.local/share/waydroid.sav and restart the phone.

Needless to say, you will lose all applications installed in Waydroid.

I could not save files from internet on host, so i chowned home folder to user.

When you say you installed app with installer, you mean installing from https://open-store.io/ ?

I still get package installer keeps stopping

Best (meaning easiest) would be to save your personnal data and full reinstall with whipping user data then...

And after that, don't mess again with system folders or files that are designed to be read only for user, use the openstore, waydroid, libertine, crackle, snap, any ways that are supported by UBPorts to install apps on your system.

Don't use chmod, apt, or download files in system folders, unless you endorse the risk (and can easily recover) putting your phone in an unusable state.

2 things are strange: first, files in the home folder are meant to be owned by the user.

In UT, the only exception is the waydroid subfolder that has strange permissions because of, Android.

However this waydroid folder should have been recreated and have all the necessary permissions.

So I wonder what kind of permissions could still be wrong, or even if it's a permission problem. Maybe it could be useful to post some logs extracts when your crash happens.

Second strange thing, how are you installing anyway ? if you resetted your Waydroid container, you have basically no installer at all. I had to install FDroid manually from an Apk, and you did not say that you set a new installer. So @keneda's question is appropriate, do you even install in Waydroid when you have a crash ? If not, it's a different problem altogether.

@CyBerT Perhaps some Waydroid logs would be useful at this point?
