Hello, as per topic, I want to buy a phone for experimenting purposes, I'm going to buy a device supported by both ubuntu touch and lineage, I might use it as my primary device later, with whichever OS I like the most, so I was wondering how easy it is to switch between these two?

I suppose they can't be installed concurrently, there's no "dual boot", so I suppose I'll need to reinstall/overwrite the OS.

how easy it is? Is there a guide? Any advice you can give? Thank you in advance.

@imre Installing LineageOS on devices generally alters partition sizes. Ubuntu Touch (UT) requires stock partition sizes to install with some variation. If you install LineageOS first, then want to install UT on the same device, you will need to go back to the correct stock Android ROM for that device to then install UT. There is no dual boot yet as such (there has been experimenting), but on UT runs Waydroid on certain devices that you can run certain Android apps.

        I have too many devices...

          Hi @imre

The installation process can be tricky sometimes.
But in my experience, the UBports installer is pretty easy to use and it works well.

As @MrT10001 mentioned you'll have to reinstall the correct version of Android before installing Ubuntu Touch, experience may vary depending on the device but for the Pixel 3a it was a breeze.

I think the Volla Phone 22 supported Multi-Boot or dual boot. You maybe want to ask the Volla guys, if this is still the case with the latest software.
I think the coming Volla Tablet should also support dual boot.

Waydroid gives you Lineage running in a virtual machine inside Ubuntu Touch. There is a Waydroid Helper app in the Open Store. So not dual boot, but you can launch Lineage from inside UTouch and therefore have both OS's on one device. The only downside I have found is that when Waydroid (Lineage) is running, it's greedy on the battery, so it's advisable to stop Waydroid when you're not using it

Volla Phone 22 has dual boot now again. I have the Android version and it comes with Volla OS. Volla OS is based on AOSP with some components from Lineage OS and specific components from Volla. I have Ubuntu Touch installed on the external MicroSD card as dual boot. UT runs quite fast from my SD card, I can use it as my daily driver. In some cases I boot Android, but most of the time I use UT. It is much faster than my Pinephone with mobian.
