        Hi everyone,

I'm interested in installing Ubuntu Touch on my Redmi Note 9S (Curtana), which I see is supported by UBports. My device is already bootloader-unlocked, and Iโ€™m currently running LineageOS 22.2 with Magisk (rooted with Zygisk and DenyList) to hide root from certain apps.

Before I proceed, I would greatly appreciate your help with these specific questions:

        ๐Ÿงฉ 1. Installation & Data
Does the UBports Installer completely wipe the internal storage during installation?

Is there any way to install Ubuntu Touch without wiping user data, or is that unavoidable?

๐Ÿ”„ 2. Reverting Back to LineageOS
If I try Ubuntu Touch and decide to switch back to Android/LineageOS later:

Will I need to flash the stock MIUI ROM first to restore the original partition layout?

Can I flash LineageOS directly from Ubuntu Touch by wiping partitions via TWRP?

Does LineageOS automatically reconfigure the partitions, or should I manually format /data back to ext4?

Also, should I avoid re-locking the bootloader when going back?

๐Ÿฆ 3. Banking Apps Inside WayDroid
A major concern for me is banking apps. I currently rely on Magisk (with root hiding) in LineageOS to keep my banking apps working.

If I install WayDroid inside Ubuntu Touch:

Will banking apps detect root and refuse to launch?

Is it possible to install Magisk inside WayDroid and successfully hide root?

Have users successfully gotten banking or security-sensitive apps working in WayDroid?

I love the idea of Ubuntu Touch and would love to experiment with it, but these are essential questions before I can commit to switching. Thanks in advance for your help, and thanks to the UBports team and community for your incredible work!

        Best regards,
        Hamidreza Mehrban

Hello and welcome! I've moved your topic out of the New Contributors area, because you sound more like a potential New User than a Contributor.

Did the answers you got in the Telegram channel yesterday satisfy you, or is there anything still unanswered? Please let us know and we'll try to help.

                @hamidreza2000m Welcome to the community!
If you get time, feel free to post what you learned here. It could help many others in your position who are considering trying Ubuntu Touch.
A small note from my experience.. while many banking apps don't work even in Waydroid (I think because of unlocked boatloader?) some banks work fine via their website. I often send/receive transfers, check balance, etc. through my bank's website using Morph, the main web browser of UT.
Hope that you're able to make the switch!
