Cant install Whatsapp or Signal on Waydroid
-
For Signal you can use Molly Foss form Fdroid repo, it's a clone and it works better, and can be linked as a secondary device.
Whatsapp works for me, when installed from APK. You can also use the native app from openstore.
-
Thanks a lot, I will try it to install Signal like you said.
Whats App I willl fetch from openstore, but I wonder if it makes any diffrent to the Aurora APK.
-
Openstore is not in waydroid, it's the native app store for Ubuntu Touch, (it's not APK files). Try the app Whatsweb.
Though it you want the android version for me it works with APK from whatsapp website.
-
Whau, I got WhatsApp!
With Molly Foss.... I could not fixed.
I opend Molly molly.im on my computer and scaned molly foss.
-
Than a windows open "Molly F-Droid Repo (Foss)" with a link. When I open the link I come to
-
the F-Droid Link.
There I shut share a repo link -
but when I open the link I come to an "Android Deep Link"
-
when I open this, I have to open another on and than nothing happed anymore

When I tryed to install Signal it says
"App not installed as app isn`t compatible with your phone"Have you tried getting the apk directly from Signal?
And of course, it needs to be downloaded and installed from inside Waydroid. -
@bunt7 You need to install first Fdroid app repository
From there you will be able to install many free and open-source applications for Android
-
@Moem
Though on my side the Signal APK does not work anymore without google API installed. Not sure if I'm alone with this? So I use Molly Foss, which works exactly like Signal, but without proprietary blobs, and with possibility to use as a secondary device. -
Now I am confused. Fdroid is a Appstore for Android. Can I install it on ubuntu touch?
-
....and I tried to install molly foss but could not install it on ubuntu touch

Yes, inside a Waydroid container.
-
Ok, this was what I didnt understand, that I have to install Molly in the waydroid container.
Done! Thanks a lot for helping me!
Now I can (nearly*) leave the android universe and move to Ubuntu touch.
*"nearly" because of the waydroid container
