      Oneplus Nord N10 users

I am not a geek, so slowly trying to understand everything before trying to install Ubuntu Touch.
Don't want to brick my phone.

      UBPorts links to

Oneplus One - how to unlock bootloader, install custom recovery and root
      https://community.oneplus.com/thread/64487

This article mentions SuperSU. A DDG search for "SuperSU" yields

SuperSU is a >>> DISCONTINUED <<< proprietary Android application that can keep track of the root permissions of apps, after the Android device has been rooted. SuperSU is generally installed through a custom recovery such as TWRP.

I don't like the word, DISCONTINUED - potentially unsupported.

A DDG search for "rooting oneplus linux" -> "more" suggests using Magisk.

What do you use to root Oneplus Nord N10?

Also do you happen to have any good documentation link on rooting this phone?

Thank in advanced for your help.

You don't need to root your phone before installing Ubuntu Touch... you just need to unlock the bootloader.

          Thank for replying Interesting...

          1. Will UBPorts still work?

          2. What happens if I brick the phone?

p.s. Can a developer modify UBPorts so that the
users see only bootloader needs to be unlocked.

You mean the installer? Yes. It was made to work like that. Rooting has never been required to install Ubuntu Touch with the UBports installer.

What happens if I brick the phone?

Bricking means the phone cannot boot anymore and can't be used.

Can a developer modify UBPorts so that the
users see only bootloader needs to be unlocked.

The device page for this device says:

How to install Ubuntu Touch OS

You can install Ubuntu Touch on this device using the UBports Installer on your computer.

Make sure the bootloader of your device is unlocked and that your device has the required version of Android installed.

Do you think that's not clear enough?

OnePlus phones are very hard to brick. They can be recovered using the msmDownloadtool usually included with the image on the UT device's webpage. If it isn't, xda-developers has them, for every OnePlus model.
