Should I do it from Windows or can it be done on Ubuntu laptop? Does Android SDK / ADB run on Ubuntu? I have the image downloaded. I have ubports installer. Are these instructions for Ubuntu or Windows? https://docs.ubuntu.com/phone/en/devices/reinstalling-android

adbandfastbootrun on Ubuntu just fine.FYI those instructions you've linked are outdated.
