Hi, I can‘t connect my OPO (16.04 rc) with VPN to my FRITZ!Box at home. I tried it with “VPN editor” and in Settings. It worked with Iphone and Android.
I have this data: Server, Shared Secret-IPSec (don’t know where to add this) and a Account with Password.
I would be glad for an explanation what I have to do. -
Does this device support OpenVPN instead of IPSec? Unfortunately, the latter is not yet supported on UT. Only OpenVPN is supported for now.
-
@dobey thank you, good to know IPSec is not supported.
Yes, it supports Open VPN. I followed this (german) instructions: https://avm.de/service/vpn/tipps-tricks/vpn-verbindung-zur-fritzbox-unter-linux-einrichten/
I'm on Port 1194 using UDP and when I try to connect, I get immediately the "failed" message.
Maybe I will buy another Raspberry as VPN-Server. -
@thilov please, not shortened urls in the forum, thank you.
I changed it for the expanded one

OK. I don't have one of these devices to test with, but if OpenVPN works (can you connect with an Ubuntu 16.04 laptop or such?), then it should be possible to connect from the phone. Assuming you can connect to the VPN using OpenVPN via Network Manager on a standard Ubuntu 16.04 PC, you should be able to connect from UT using the same method (I have done so to my own private OpenVPN server setup before).

Fritzbox don't natively support OpenVPN. They do support Cisco/vpnc based VPN. Unfortunately there is no simple way to create such a VPN tunnel on current Ubuntu touch.
You would have to use the terminal to setup and control such a VPN. After all it does work on a normal Linux based system. -
Thanks for your help. So, I will install a pi vpn and hole.
