bq Aquaris 4.5 Ubuntu Touch (vivid/ubuntu 15.04) is not upgrading.
-
Hi, I am new here.
I just started using an unused bq Aquaris 4.5 Ubuntu Touch. It runs 15.04, codename vivid.
It will make phone calls, I can text, use the camera and the browser.
Address book works fine, file manager and terminal too.
But it is not updating or upgrading, and the Ubuntu Store stays white.
apt-get returns a lot of 404 errors.
It seems the repositories have changed.
Are there any new repositories that I can use?
I have duckducked the web for a few hours, and cannot find them.
Help please? -
@root-ruuFirstly are you still on Canonical Ubuntu Touch or UBports Ubuntu Touch? The Ubuntu store has shut down and if you are on UBports you should have the Openstore.
If you are on Canonical still you will need to install UBports Ubuntu touch via the installer https://github.com/ubports/ubports-installer
Just download and follow the instructions. Any issues please come back. -
Thanks for the quick reply @Lakotaubp! I am still on Canonical, hence the desolate feeling I get in my phone. I will give it a try with the UBports version.

It worked! I have a full appstore now and my software gets upgraded! Wow!

@root-ruud
That's just the start! This thing's going to knock your socks off! -
@root-ruud Good news ! Have a look here for more useful info https://ubports.com/page/telegram-welcome and Welcome to UBports

@3arn0wl Where can I present my whishlist?

@root-ruud
I guess the best place is the GitHub repositories, as feature requests!How are you finding UT?

@3arn0wl
good things:
1
root access
2
FOSS OS.

I need two SIMs, only bottom slot is working at present, but it worked under the canonical version.
This is my daily phone and my work phone, I can not miss any calls. This is a deal-breaker.2
morph browser turns white spontaneously, a restart is required to get pages loading properly.3
I want to know exactly how long my calls lasted, incoming and outgoing.
not visible at present -
@root-ruud
I have to say: I haven't heard that only one SIM works, but I use an N5, and haven't any need for 2 SIMs. Maybe someone else can enlighten us about that.The Morph Browser is in heavy development at the moment. I use it quite a lot, and I haven't experienced the bug that you're describing... It may be valuable to file a bug report for that.
And knowing how long a call lasts doesn't seem like an unreasonable wish - especially in the run up to Christmas! Why not put in a feature request?

This is my daily phone and my work phone, I can not miss any calls. This is a deal-breaker.Well, works for me. I use 2x SIMs on bq 4.5 / 16.04 - rc. Probably you need to file a bug, so that you can get some advice on how to detect what might be the problem.

morph browser turns white spontaneously, a restart is required to get pages loading properly.Well. Yes. There are some indications that this might be related to amount of physical RAM available on the phone. Although I do not believe that it is related to memory, since for me just reload of the page normally helps.

not visible at presentIt is there. In your call history - swipe left call you want to have an info on, tap (i). Or do you mean something else?

@root-ruud
You've prompted me to look at the dialer app in more detail!If you swipe up from the bottom edge, it gives you a lot of details about calls: date and duration, incoming/outgoing and to whom, etc.
