Free/open ebook reader

Is there a more or less free/open ebook reader out there?
Lacking sources for non-DRM content i would prefer to have a DRM supporting reader also...
But except for that anti-openness I would prefer to own my device and not being bound to a specific shop/source for the content...
I guess there is no open hardware/os out there? Do you know any? What do you suggest/use? -
@hummlbach I'm pretty happy with my BQ ebook reader. It's an old model (Cervantes 2) but I've heard that the new ones keep the good things and improve the general experience
